Four weeks ago we got to know a bit about Brath's Deep Dwarves, specifically the Gem Golem and a few ways Brath and her deck uses them to her advantage. Today we'll explore a few more of the synergies between Gem Golems and this deck, and some more proximity tricks this deck carries.

Gem Archer

You can't really go wrong with a 1r/1/1, especially in a deck where proximity to Gem Golems grants a little more cushion of stability, but their direct relationship with Gem Golems through GEM ACTIVATE is outstanding. After making an attack with the Gem Archer, regardless of hitting, you can activate a Gem Golem within 2 spaces to move and/or attack, even if it has attacked this turn. This is a great way to push a Gem Golem to block, push it into range of a more susceptible friendly Common to be under HARVEST protection, or allow a bit more beat up from a Gem Golem, especially if it's boosted by Brath's Deep Magic.

Noa

Noa is a beast on his own, swinging 3 AV at just 5 cost and a 5 life. He is a mash-up of Holleas and Lun, allowing you to more cheaply drop Gem Golems immediately from your hand at one of two different times, before or after moving with him. This comes with tons of benefits. Most obvious: the discount of the Gem Golem. Second, the ability to place Gem Golems nearly anywhere - positioning them for helpful HARVEST or event triggers. Remember last preview when I mentioned using Back to the Deep to pull back a wounded Gem Golem to your hand? Yea... you can immediately get it back out. You can also play certain combos right to pull off a Gift from the Mother Gem or a Magic Strike just before doing that.

What is Magic Strike you ask?

Magic Strike

Boom. Blasted. It's a giant cloud of damage to any Common or Champion within 2 spaces of 1 or more Gem Golems. With the possibility of horrible bloodshed on the battlefield (especially in match ups against lower life Units) Brath only has 1 of these cards to use, so you can see why you would want as many ways as possible to get your Gem Golems into optimal board position for the greatest impact.

That's all for today, folks. Next time we'll learn just how hard this band of Deep Dwarves can hit.

I can't wait to see this full deck in action. I think the combos so far are devastating.

I was hoping for a little less gem golem.. doesn't look like Tundle gets much use out of anything in this deck so far.. Also this deck looks so synergistic that you cant really tamper with it too much, everything works with Gem golems only

BTBAM commented:

Tundle doesn't need help from this deck, but still he does get some... in due time.

I think we're all Gen Golem'ed out now. The last Brath preview will have stuff that works with much more than Golems, but still fits with them.

So yeah, Tundle doesn't get a bunch of help, but he doesn't need it. And there are still cards in Brath that you can build in to Tundle that he'll appreciate.

Question: Using Gem Activate, does the Gem Golem attacking count as one of your three attacks? I would assume so, but I want to make sure.

thenightsshadow commented:

No, it does not. Think less of it as 3 Attacks and more like 3 Attack Activations. The Archer activates the Golem and lets it attack, so it won't count towards your limit of 3.

Oooooh, nifty. Definitely not how I would have played that. Thanks! :)

There is literally no way I could be more excited to play these decks. Not to mention build new ones!!

Oh you can be more excited - just wait a couple of hours :)

I'm predicting I get next to nothing done at work this afternoon.

I hope you don't.

BTBAM, killercactus: I wasn't thinking about the power aspect of Tundle, just about variety. I am aware that he doesn't "need" help, it would just be nice to have more deckbuilding options for him. It's good to hear that there will be some, I'm looking forward to the last preview!

"you can't go wrong with 1r/1/1"... the worst 1-cost statline. Lol. Gem archers are alright, they definitely reward self milling with Brath. I'm still not sure if the cost of losing random parts of your deck is worth it though. Noa is amazing. A top notch statline and a huge magic advantage ability? Wow. Magic Strike seems insane, although it does give your opponent the option to avoid it without too much trouble.

Sujoah commented:

@Prometheuslkr: Could be sword instead of bow symbol or 0 AV! Plus they'll probably have 2 life most of the time because of the Gem Mages.

Art for the new second summoners continues to be outstanding.

prometheuslkr commented:

Noa's pretty cool-lookin (though I'm not generally a fan of Unit art that includes scenery), but the art for the Gem Archer is weird as hell. He looks like he's got a single, beaver-like long tooth, and he's wearing some sort of... hat that covers his shoulders? That's made out of what looks like feathers?

With noa and kynder's mage push can you construct 2 gem golem each turn ?

Posted on 2016-05-04.

killercactus commented:

No - only after moving "with" Noa. Kynder's MAGE PUSH isn't moving "with" Noa.

epyonyx commented:

Wow, never noticed that "with" in special abilities. I had to go over cards with moving abilities to see that they usually don't say "with". Which makes the rune mage limitations make more sense.
