The Victorious Phoenixborn
Celebration Tournament
This past weekend we celebrated the end of Ashes: Rise of the Phoenixborn with the Complete Your Collection Tournament!
Held at Common Ground Games here in Dallas, TX, there were 26 participants. Everyone got their choice of playmat plus the original six Phoenixborn cards with brand new art just for participating.
Ashes designer Isaac Vega was in attendance and not only signed copies of the game, but played a few non-tournament matches as well. He did not win a single game.
The tournament lasted five rounds, but after three it was clear that it was going to be steep competition between four contestants. Brian Broughman from Michigan ended up pulling ahead with a 5-0 victory thanks to his Harold deck.
As the winner of the tournament, Brian won all six playmats, but most importantly he got to choose which Phoenixborn was the ultimate victor of the War of Ashes. Even though he won with Harold, his loyalty belonged to another, and he did not hesitate to choose the darkside – Jericho Kill!
Stay tuned for the ending Phoenixborn lore that Isaac will pen in the upcoming weeks!
After the tournament we all celebrated at Bishop Cidercade, a cool brewery with all-you-can-play arcade games. We had a blast, and are so thankful that we got to celebrate the ending of a great game with such great people!
