F2Z

Have you heard the news? Plaid Hat Games is joining the F2Z Entertainment family! All of us here at Plaid Hat Games are excited to take the next leap forward in creating the world's most fun and engaging tabletop experiences, and we can't wait to step up our ability to get those games into players' hands all over the world.

Plaid Hat Games isn't going anywhere--still in Dallas, still the same creative team, and still repping the Plaid Hat Games brand in the name of the Dougs. Check out what Colby and others have to say:

"Plaid Hat Games has always put a strong focus on the design and process of making board games and the skill set of the team at Plaid Hat Games reflects that focus. As Plaid Hat Games has grown, the other aspects of the board game publishing business have devoured more and more of the team's time and attention. This acquisition by F2Z Entertainment allows the Plaid Hat Games' team to turn their attention back to what they do best as they are bolstered by a super-star production, logistics, sales and marketing team that will have a fast impact on game players around the world having reliable access to the games we create" --Colby Dauch, Plaid Hat Games

"This acquisition will give the actual and forthcoming titles a wider and deeper reach into the national and international markets over all media support." --Sophie Gravel, President of F2Z Entertainment Inc.

"Starting next year, every Plaid Hat title will be simultaneously released by Filosofia. That is wonderful news for our French-speaking fans!" --Lyne Bouthillette, marketing and communication manager at F2Z Entertainment.

More simultaneous releases in German and Dutch are also planned. Stay tuned to PlaidHatGames.com for the latest on all things Plaid Hat.

I had to chuckle at that video. Why did we need the video? hahaha :P

With all the buyouts happening in the gaming industry and people being worried about it, I don't think we need to worry here. It sounds like a good move.

I'm not sure how I feel about this. Does this mean? What has actually changed? Is Plaid Hat no more? Is this similar to the FFG thing?

I sincerely hope this is a good thing. Best of luck.

Interesting about the multilingual releases. Any plans on doing Spanish editions? While I live in an U.S. Territory and I'm bilingual (and more comfortable to play games in English), here in Puerto Rico not everyone is and getting some games in Spanish would make it easier to get family and friends playing.

Hmmm...I really hope this ends up like the FFG acquisition. Whereupon PH gets to operate as is with full creative control.

Based on previous behaviour, F2Z should not interfere with game development at all. Really, this just means bigger, better distribution if history serves.

Zaid commented:

I hope their marketing/distribution is better than their videos.

What this means is:

More games from Mr. Überpresident Colby H. D. Dauch!

Now he finally has time to design sequel to Summoner Wars and Heroscape. (And do it better than Magic Boardgame)

@JanE (and Colby)
Is the H. D. for Hillary Duff?

@JanE
A Heroscape sequel? Better than the Magic board game? Cool. Maybe we'll finally get some waterfall terrain that connects to the edges of land tiles. :-)

I hope this bodes well, but we can only know with time if the titles created after acquisition are up to par with pre.
Skeptical.

This has me legitimately worried. I like how they pitch it of giving the designers more time to do what designers to best, that is-- design games. But I'm worried about having a large corporate entity calling the shots as they pertain to plaid hat's future. It makes me excited for future games like Ashes and the Crossroads series, and where these more recent games might go, but it has me worried for the state of summoner wars and mice and mystics.

I am French,
I am a fan about SUMMONER WARS released in France by Filosofia so with my two boys , 9 and 11, we play the game with all the factions (french translate and the english cards).
I am pleased to see PHG with the same group with FILOSOFA so ASHES will be released in France in 2016 with a French version.
Good luck to F2Z

I understand the move, however, I fear that F2Z will eventually be gobbled up by a larger fish (namely, Asmodee). The industry will begin to resemble Walmart, with independent publishers suffering the consequences.

It's obvious to me. Colby felt this was the only way to ensure Mr. Bistro finished Dungeon Run 2.
