Crossroads is a new series from Plaid Hat Games that tests a group of survivors' ability to work together and stay alive while facing crises and challenges from both outside and inside.

Dead of Winter is the first game in this series, designed by Isaac Vega and Jon Gilmour. It puts 2-5 players together in a small, weakened colony of survivors in a world where most of humanity are either dead or diseased, flesh-craving monsters. Each player leads a faction of survivors with dozens of different characters in the game.

Dead of Winter is a meta-cooperative psychological survival game. This means players are working together toward one common victory condition--but for each individual player to achieve victory, they must also complete their personal secret objective. This secret objective could relate to a psychological tick that's fairly harmless to most others in the colony, a dangerous obsession that could put the main objective at risk, a desire for sabotage of the main mission, or worst of all: vengeance against the colony! Certain games could end with all players winning, some winning and some losing, or all players losing. Work toward the group's goal but don't get walked all over by a loudmouth who's only looking out for their own interests!

Nice! I just posted the news over at BGG.
Now, I just need to see some previews to see how appropriate this will be to play around my kids...

I thought it was a deal but unfortunately you might have lost me at $18.35 shipping. No wonder you're giving a $20 discount. I'll think about it. :)

Anything but summer camp. I vote deep underground.

Maybe run into some Deep Dwarves down there...

I should be getting this one way or another. But i'd be nice if they came up with some gameplay video or previews first.

Wow, this is great. I've been looking forward to this pre-order as soon as the game was mentioned on the podcast.

Just a quick concern about the voting system, the default option is "Deep Underground" and I suspect that at least a couple people will simply pre-order the game without even noticing the vote. Not sure if this is possible, but I'd suggest that a "Neutral/Don't Care" option is included so that Deep Underground doesn't win an extra number of unintended votes. Not that I'm opposed to a Deep Underground game.

On another note, I was thinking of voting Summer Camp lol.

Just in case, if 1 vote makes the difference between Summer Camp and Lost in Space, I change my vote to Lost in Space :)

Good grief how heavy is the box? The cheapest shipping option I have is fifteen dollars. Now I'm doubly glad for the preorder discount.

Give me the game, I don't care how much it costs to ship, PHG has never steered me wrong.

I just pre-ordered the game, but I had to go with CSI due to the cost of shipping. It went from $15 to $5. I would've voted for Feudal Japan if I had the chance to. I'm very excited for this game and Rob Daviau's SeaFall.

Caved and pre-ordered! It was a really tough call (SUPER easy call) and I'm kind of regretting it (not at all)!

Chose Feudal Japan.

Imagine if they crash landed on an island, and the story was a retelling of something like Lost.

Then again, it could be cool any way as long as Mr Bistro writes it.

I haven't listened yet, but they claim to have previewed Dead of Winter. Also, the link in the previous comment is hilarious. That took me a minute.
