Natural Magic Release and OP Update
"The mistake you have made is misunderstanding the very essence of Nature. You see wins and losses, life and death; concepts that Nature mocks! While you trap yourself with this limited perspective, Nature is busy iterating. It changes, it adapts, and if you cannot keep pace, Nature surmounts!"
-Maeve Luminvale
Organized Play Update
Version 9 of the OP document can be found HERE. This update brings a new addition to the Chained List: Era’s End from Ashes Reborn: The Scholar of Ruin. This spell has always had a tremendous amount of latent potential, and it is clear the ceiling of this has exceeded what is tenable for Round 1 gameplay. Rowan Umberend is able to use a high volume of card draw to play three copies of Discovery in the first round, then use Era’s End to deal damage and summon the Reborn Chimera that same round.
This power exceeds the intended play pattern of summoning the Reborn Chimera, which is intended to be a later-game payoff. While the possibility still remains for Rowan to play three Discovery cards in Round 1, Era’s End's potential is excessive for a unit that effectively is going to be around for the whole game. I have to commend the players who have pushed Rowan to this level of competitiveness as he’s always been one of my favorite Phoenixborn designs! My hope is that competitive Ashes players can take what they have discovered from this exploration of maximizing Rowan’s potential, and continue to use him in high level play… just without Overkilling for 3 from the word ‘go’.
