Thornhold Drey and Moonsteppe Wolves: Preview 1
Hello Summoners!
Two new factions will soon make their grand entrance to Summoner Wars: The Thornhold Drey and Moonsteppe Wolves! First, let's take a look at those squirrels...
There are many colonies, or dreys, to be found in the Pellonian Greenwood, but only the folk of Thornhold have acquired a summoning stone! The prophets have warned Fenn Timberheart that the Great Winter is upon his people, so to counteract this threat he has launched the Final Harvest. The squirrels want nuts, and they shall have them!
That's right, the Thornhold Drey love their wooden structures, and their summoner, Fenn Timberheart, is all about taking advantage of that. This glass cannon is a bit frail at only 9 life, but with a ranged strength of 4, he's more than capable of defending himself!
Woe unto those who hear chittering from the trees overhead! Go Nuts turns Fenn's already high-value ability into a deadly surprise! But what are these structures the people of Thornhold are springing from? That's a spoiler for another week...
The nomads of the Moonsteppe speak in hushed whispers of the lone forest that inhabits that region. For within the shadowed confines of those twisted bowers lurk the nomadic outcasts who have surrendered their flesh to an ancient curse. Light the bonfires, circle the wagons, and always cast your gaze toward the moon. When the howling begins, it may be too late!
Luna Nightsong is the vicious summoner leading the wolves of the Moonsteppe. If playing against her, keep an eye on her boost because her already solid statline can turn into something truly frightening. This is a summoner who wants to get close and mix it up!
As if Luna weren't scary enough, Blood Moon can ensure she has the boost she needs to transform as the battle demands!
So there you go, our two brand new summoners and their epic events. But what's that? Not enough? You need a little something more? Well, we were so in love with Luna and her transformation, we made something extra just for funsies!
This card is totally unecessary but we printed some up anyway. We'll be sending it as a free gift to all Summoner Wars subscribers when these sets release. We'll likely hand some out at cons as well, and perhaps they'll be available later down the road, but for now this is a subscriber treat.
That's it for this week's preview. Check back next Friday as we delve into the common units for these two factions.
The Thornhold Drey and Moonsteppe Wolves will be available in retail stores and the Plaid Hat Games web-store in Q2 of 2026!
