Plaid Hat Games is pleased to announce that we will have a presence at RavenCon 2013, in the form of Plaid Hat Games founder and chief game designer Colby Dauch.

RavenCon takes place at Ravenwood Castle (yes, an actual castle) March 1 and 2, 2013 in New Plymouth, Ohio (Hocking Hills area). Colby will be demoing Plaid Hat Games titles, and there will also be a plethora of RPG and boardgaming going on.

The coolest thing about RavenCon is the cause; they're raising money for Child's Play, a non-profit organization that seeks to improve the lives of children in hospitals with toys and games. $50 of the the $75 registration fee goes to the charity, 100% of all game auction proceeds will go there, and 50% of all fees for rooms rented at the castle for the con will go to Child's Play as well.

But if Colby Dauch, tons of board games, and helping kids in hospitals isn't enough to get you there, take note that it all takes place at a castle.

See you there!

Let me know if you need help with demos, Colby. Only about 2 hours from me.

So... are you trying to say that this event takes place in a castle...? I wasn't quite clear on that part.

I looked at the photo gallery on their website... There might be a castle, but I can't tell for sure.

It has some similarities to a castle, you know stone walls, towers, a great hall, pub, dungeon, etc. so I could see how someone could think it was like a castle. I have been there it seems kinda like a castle to me.

(Important note I am the castle steward. Please let me know if you have any questions. -Steve)

Well hey, it's not an Europe or anything, so the castle-ness is limited in that sense. But it's as close as we get in Ohio.

After looking at the site I'm still a bit confused as to what is going on at this event. Is it just Colby that will be there? It sounds like Colby and RPGs...

Hey Sentinel, I'm Jim Reed, the owner of Ravenwood. Sorry for the delay in responding.

To answer your question, RavenCon will have a lot going on. In addition to Colby and the PHG games, the castle itself has a growing library of other board games which will be available for play. MonoCheli also has a massive personal library of games, and I'm sure we'll be able to pry a few of them out of him if we're nice ;)

We will also be running RPGs as you mentioned, definitely Pathfinder, and possibly some D and D.

If their Kickstarter succeeds, we'll likely be running some J.S. Joust games too (great game if you haven't had the chance to try it!).

Finally, we'll have some tournaments and a silent auction for the charity arm of the event.

We will have a few scheduled events, but for the most part we're not planning on over complicating things. We're just going to gather as many awesome things in one awesome place as we can, and let the fun flow.
