Shadow Elves

Shadow Elves Faction

The Shadow Elves delight in secrets and ancient knowledge. They seek to unravel the mystery of the summoning stones, and do not hesitate to use that knowledge in battle. They are as shadowy as the mysteries they explore, appearing out of nowhere under cover of darkness.

A Shadow Elf player likes to keep their opponent guessing, with units showing up in unexpected places. A Shadow Elf player reacts to their opponent’s actions and strikes with suddenness.

killercactus commented on Taliya:

The ruling on that is the mutation goes back to the Filth player's hand, and the common underneath is discarded. I think that's in the FAQ.

Lord Brighton commented on Taliya:

How would she work with mutation cards? Would both the common and the mutation return to the player's hand, or would the common underneath be discarded?

thenightsshadow commented on Blade Master:

Blade Masters are better than Swordsmen for summoning Hunters from. They're more durable, they're spammable, and they're hard to take down due to their SWIFT STRIKE. Blade Master Units are usually relegated to 1 or 2 in a deck, but if you're running more consider using them as practice for how to build magic.

thenightsshadow commented on Shadows:

A Magic Denial deck has been floating around, using The Seer (or not) to get to their expensive Champs, only to have them taken by SHADOWS. It's an alternative and interesting way to play them, especially if you manage to have commons left over afterwards with STALKING ADVANCE.

thenightsshadow commented on Hunter:

Even if a Shadow Elf player has Shadows and you know they have it, don't bother not killing Swordsmen that make it up. Hunters are the reason you want to kill them, even if they make your opponent reach enough magic for Hydrake.

TheOne commented on Blade Master:

Neat, well-costed, essentially a 2-AV 2-HP Melee unit for 2 Magic with insane swordsmanship. Swordsmen do better, though. Shadow Elves are about strong and fast. 2 Magic is already a tempo loss for the SE player. I wouldn't use this on anything except the Cave Goblins, but even then, Into Darkness could handle them just fine, without having you add a card to the deck.

TheOne commented on Shadows:

Shadow Elves and Magic denial. Pretty smart pitch for a fragile faction. You can use Shadows on your Champs, guys. Don't forget to use it on your crazy-ass Xaserbane.

TheOne commented on Hunter:

Some nasty birthday surprise. An ignored Scout or some forward unit, and a Stalking Advance turns into a GG. Shadow Elves, always a good time with them.

thenightsshadow commented on Taliya:

I run Taliya in my regular Shadow Elf decks, for the sole reason that she takes care of a few bad matchups like Swamp Orcs, especially when they summon their Swamp Beast or Savager and you just have Taliya there making them waste 3 or 4 Magic without getting a Vine Wall.

joepinion commented on Taliya:

Not a bad idea, especially since there are only 3 swordsmen in deck with the base set (the other 3 start on the board). One creative use is to put Demon Hands in the deck with Taliya... You get great stats cheap plus the occasional extra wound with their ability. Then you can take them back in hand without Selundar getting a wound. If they get destroyed before you get a chance, it's not too bad since Selundar has 7 life.
