Default Errata Playtest Thread 1.0 - DON'T POST ANYTHING ELSE HERE!

    Everyone,

This thread is to reference the Current Playtesting Task and post Playtest results ONLY!!! If you post something that isn't a playtest result, I'm going to delete it. We can use the old Errata thread for discussion.

    Current Playtesting Task:

Playtest a test deck, which is any deck that includes the Errata version of the Errata Cards and is listed in Post #2 of this thread under Test Decks in the sample running total, against a control deck, which is another deck that does NOT include Errata cards. When the Errata cards are part of the base deck for the Summoner you're playing as, play as the base deck and play against a base control deck. If you must build in the Errata card (e.g., Krusk/Marek + Dinky or Demagogue/Meda + Soul Eater), play built deck vs built deck with knowledge of your opponent's Summoner. You can use a deck that has a card on the list in it as the control deck, but just don't use the Errata version. After playing the game, also play a reverse game by switching decks with your opponent and playing again. However, only play games that are no more than one Tier away per the list below (i.e., if you're using a test deck in Tier 1, please select a control deck from either Tier 1 or Tier 2):

Tier 1: Rallul, Krusk, Tundle, Nikuya Na, Grognack, Warden, Tacullu, Oldin.
Tier 2: Immortal Elien, Malenatar, Moyra, Little Meda, Mugglug, Frick, Prince Elien, The Demagogue, Saturos.
    Tier 3: Everyone else.

I realize that I left some decks that are affected by the errata cards out of the Test Deck list. This is on purpose as I don't think their data is quite as important for now. We may do tests with say, Endrich + Errata Lun, later.

Also, try to even out the use of the control decks. If you see that Mugglug has been used as a control deck a bunch of times, don't use him and use someone without as many plays. There may be times I request to see specific matchups, such as Oldin vs decks with Vine Walls. In fact, let's pay close attention to that one, but also let's get Oldin games in against non-SO decks.

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Here's the list of card changes we'll start playtesting in version 1.0. Note that there are only card changes - no rule changes to be playtested (yet):

Magic Drain (new events for each Summoner except Vlox)
Freeze (reduce to 2 copies, it may not be played on Summoners and add a new 1x Event)
    Heroic Feat (commons only)
    Lun (Friendy Units only)
Fury of Godshome (2 wounds per wall)
Beseige the Walls (Choose 3 walls...instead of all walls)
    Jujugara (reduce AV to 2)
Baldar (Increase Summon Cost to 6)
Destabilize (In addition to what it does now, may move each unit with the BUILT ability up to 2 spaces)
Soul Eater (increase cost to 8)
    Dinky (reduce AV to 7)

Here are the new Event cards to replace Magic Drain and Freeze in each deck:

    Prince Elien
    Rebirth x2
Place one Phoenix Elf Common Unit from your Discard Pile adjacent to a Wall you control OR you may discard another Rebirth card from your hand to play this card when a Phoenix Elf Champion or Summoner you control is destroyed. That Unit is not destroyed. Remove all Wound Markers from that Unit, and then place Wound Markers on that Unit equal to their Life Value minus 1.

    Grognack
    Ice Eruption x1
Choose an Ice Wall you control that started this turn on the Battlefield. You may discard that Ice Wall to summon a Tundra Orc Unit from your hand on the space that Ice Wall occupied. Reduce that Unit's Summon Cost by 4.
(if you're proxying, remove a Freeze and stick For Glory or something into Grognack's deck)

    Oldin
    Magic Ore x2
When a Guild Dwarf you control targets a Wall with an attack this turn and inflicts a wound, place one card from your Discard Pile on top of your Magic Pile.

    Tacullu
    Mind Blast x2
Choose an opponent. That opponent must discard either 1 card from their hand or 2 cards from the top of their Magic Pile.

    Ret-Talus
    Plague of the Dead x2
Until the end of this turn, add 1 to the Attack Value of all Zombie Warriors you control, and all Fallen Kingdom Units you control gain the following ability:
    ZOMBIE INFECTION
Each time this Unit destroys an adjacent Enemy Unit, you may immediately place one Zombie Warrior from any player's Discard Pile on the space the destroyed Unit occupied.

Here is a sample of the Playtest Report you should post here, along with the running stat tally updated to add your games to the running total. This is the format.

TEST = (name of player): (Summoner and deckbuild)
CONTROL = (name of player): (Summoner and deckbuild)

    Initial Game
    Winner: (winning summoner)
Errata Card Balance Compared to Old Cards: (Same / UP / OP)
Errata Card Fun Compared to Old Cards: (Same / More Fun / Less Fun)
Errata Cards Played in the Game: (List cards that hit the table)
Errata Cards Built as Magic in the Game: (List cards built as magic and not subsequently played in the game)
Comments: (talk about how the Errata Cards impacted the game positively or negatively here. Be brief please)

    Reverse Game
    Winner: (winning summoner)
Errata Card Balance Compared to Old Cards: (Same / UP / OP)
Errata Card Fun Compared to Old Cards: (Same / More Fun / Less Fun)
Errata Cards Played in the Game: (List cards that hit the table)
Errata Cards Built as Magic in the Game: (List cards built as magic and not subsequently played in the game)
Comments: (talk about how the Errata Cards impacted the game positively or negatively here. Be brief please)

And here's a sample. You can copy everything below this line and change what's pertinent each time you submit a report. Remember though that you're ADDING TO the running totals at the bottom - NOT replacing them.

TEST = killercactus - Prince Elien (base deck)
CONTROL = joepinion - Frick (base deck)

    Initial Game
    Winner: Prince Elien
Errata Card Balance Compared to Old Cards: Same
Errata Card Fun Compared to Old Cards: More Fun
Errata Cards Played in the Game: Rebirth x2
Errata Cards Built as Magic in the Game: None
Comments: Rebirth worked well, summoning 2 Guardians at a discount during the game.

    Reverse Game
    Winner: Prince Elien
Errata Card Balance Compared to Old Cards: OP
Errata Card Fun Compared to Old Cards: Same
Errata Cards Played in the Game: Rebirth x2
Errata Cards Built as Magic in the Game: None
Comments: Rebirth x2 was used to get the last hit on Frick with a Fire Drake that was allowed to survive another turn. There was nothing Frick could do to win when Rebirth guaranteed that Fire Drake wouldn't die.

TEST = lcanela - Ret Talus (base deck)
CONTROL = Prelate - Saturos (base deck)

    Initial Game
    Winner: Saturos
rrata Card Balance Compared to Old Cards: N/A
Errata Card Fun Compared to Old Cards: N/A
Errata Cards Played in the Game: None
Errata Cards Built as Magic in the Game: None
Comments: Game was over turn one -Relentless Advance, Shadow Warrior, Blood Summon = GG (posted this more for fun ).

    Reverse Game
    Winner: Ret Talus
Errata Card Balance Compared to Old Cards: N/A
Errata Card Fun Compared to Old Cards: More Fun
Errata Cards Played in the Game: Zombie Plague x1
Errata Cards Built as Magic in the Game: None
Comments: Zombie Plague came out on the very last turn. Didn't change the game as Saturos got killed by making an error. But Ret Raised a Zombie which was fun. The real struggle was the weakness of Ret's common units versus Saturos' - they couldn't achieve much at all.

TEST = lcanela - Ret Talus (base deck)
CONTROL = Prelate - Sneeks (base deck)

    Initial Game
    Winner: Ret-Talus
Errata Card Balance Compared to Old Cards: More balanced
Errata Card Fun Compared to Old Cards: Much more fun
Errata Cards Played in the Game: Zombie Plague x2
Errata Cards Built as Magic in the Game: None
Comments. Zombie Plague was tough to pull off (due to Zombies being in Magic or opponent's discard) but when it did it was a fairly strong event, especially with champs raising them from weak Goblin units. We wondered whether raising from both discards and/or your magic pile is viable? Game was very close.

    Reverse Game
    Winner: Sneeks
Errata Card Balance Compared to Old Cards: Balanced but considerably weaker
Errata Card Fun Compared to Old Cards: Much more fun
Errata Cards Played in the Game: 1x Zombie Plague
Errata Cards Built as Magic in the Game: 1x Zombie Plague
Comments: Unfortunately Ret got screwed by drawing all events and Skeleton Archers in the first 3 hands - so had to build them. Zombie Plague was very, very, hard to pull off -with no Zombies in Magic or Discard for ages. When it worked, it worked ok - but there needs to be an effective way to get Zombies into discard.

TEST = Prelate - Oldin (base deck)
CONTROL = lcanela - Mugglugg (base deck)

    Initial Game
    Winner: Mugglugg
Errata Card Balance Compared to Old Cards: More balanced
Errata Card Fun Compared to Old Cards: Much more fun
Errata Cards Played in the Game: Magic Ore x 1 Besiege the Walls x 1 and Heroic Feat x 1
Errata Cards Built as Magic in the Game: 1x Magic Ore
Comments. Magic Ore obtained a healthy 3 magic from Muggluggs walls (using Engineers no less!) it worked well in this match-up, while still leaving Mugglugg with a healthy magic pile. HF was used on a Defender to wound Mugglugg and BTW was still strong - killing all of Mugglugg's early vine walls. However, some good dice and a well played Vine Growth + Ensnare killed off a highly offensive Oldin who had very nearly finished off Mugglugg who was trapped by some very powerful Defenders (Mugglugg struggled with those) but Oldin whiffed. Game was very close.

    Reverse Game
    Winner: Oldin
Errata Card Balance Compared to Old Cards: More balanced but still strong
Errata Card Fun Compared to Old Cards: More fun on the whole
Errata Cards Played in the Game: 2x Heroic Feat 2x Besiege the Walls, Baldar
Errata Cards Built as Magic in the Game: 2 x Magic Ore
Comments: The game swayed back and forth. BTW was still very powerful early game, sweeping the board of Vine Walls twice (perhaps adjacency required?) However, the Gror bomb did not happen (though it could have done with RAW) so he was easier to deal with. Baldar came out slower but was still a pain to handle. Mugglugg rallied hugely and went on the offensive in the end game - with many Vine Walls (which meant Magic Ore became too hard to set up) But some miraculous dice rolls from one (Heroic Feat) Spearman early, and some chronic misses by Swamp Orc units, sealed the game. (In short, it pretty much came down to dice, which was better in many ways) Game was very close.

TEST = lcanela – Immortal Elien (base deck)
    CONTROL = Skydragon222 – Scraven (base deck)

Initial Game [This game ran long, we only had time for one.]
    Winner: Scraven
Errata Card Balance Compared to Old Cards: Less powerful. Hard to say about balance.
Errata Card Fun Compared to Old Cards: I found it less fun.
Errata Cards Played in the Game: Dinky didn’t get played. See below.
Errata Cards Built as Magic in the Game: None
Comments. Throughout the game, there was roughly 5-7 commons on the field at all times. In the normal game, Dinky would have been moderately useful boasting 2-4 attack. In this game he would have been nearly useless. I kept Dinky (and a blood thirsty) in my hand until the end game. The plan was to use blood thirsty to attack Elien, and if that failed, summon a powerful Dinky for mop up. Summoning Dinky turned out to be unnecessary.

Dinky’s use seems pretty much limited to endgames in Scraven if his attack is capped at 7.

TEST = Prelate - Tacullu (base deck)
CONTROL = lcanela - Nikuya Na (base deck)

    Initial Game
    Winner: Tacullu
Errata Card Balance Compared to Old Cards: More balanced
Errata Card Fun Compared to Old Cards: Much more fun
Errata Cards Played in the Game: 1xMind Blast
Errata Cards Built as Magic in the Game: None
Comments. Mimic and Mind blast worked well together to discard one of Nikuya's champs. Nik played very aggressively with Rhinos (and obviously did not suffer from Magic Drain economic problems to do so) However, a combination of Mind Control and Controllers trapped him and he died.

    Reverse Game
    Winner: Tacullu
Errata Card Balance Compared to Old Cards: Much more balanced
Errata Card Fun Compared to Old Cards: Fun! Annoying, but fun!
Errata Cards Played in the Game: 2xMind Blast
Errata Cards Built as Magic in the Game: None
Comments: Mind Blast discarded Nikuya's first 2 magic straight away - which was annoying but much, much better than Magic Drain! The other Mind Blast was fairly harmless. Nikuya had no problem with magic (despite Bender nastiness) and sent Jujugara in to attack. Tacullu pulled a desperate surround on a nearly full-health Nikuya, rolling flawlessly 6/7 to take the game. Close game, good fun.

TEST = lcanela - Elien (base deck)
CONTROL = Prelate - Krusk (base deck)

    Initial Game
    Winner: Krusk
Errata Card Balance Compared to Old Cards: More Balanced
Errata Card Fun Compared to Old Cards: N/A - unable to play
Errata Cards Played in the Game: None
Errata Cards Built as Magic in the Game: None
Comments. Elien drew no walls early - but got much magic from Warriors and good dice. Krusk built up to Biter and Kreep - then besieged Eliens wall. Next turn Taunt + Sand Storm and Elien died. Elien had one Rebirth in hand - with the other he could perhaps have survived. It wasn't that fun being unable to play Rebirth effectively without walls/beefy commons. In a built deck it would have had more use. There was no worry about unit count (both played freely) and a limited number of self-kills - which was good.

    Reverse Game
    Winner:
Errata Card Balance Compared to Old Cards: More Balanced
Errata Card Fun Compared to Old Cards: Hilarious fun!
Errata Cards Played in the Game: 1xRebirth
Errata Cards Built as Magic in the Game: None
Comments: Elien tempted Krusk out on the flank - and took 3 wounds. Covering with Guardians, he dealt 2 wounds to Krusk, built 8 magic, and had a hand of 4 cards. Next turn Krusk could Taunt the Guardians away and move Krusk in for the kill - BUT, he was in a total quandary - did Elien have both Rebirths??!! Or not??!! After an agonising few minutes (and some swearing), he decided to retreat. After a bloody battle - Krusk was losing the economic game (and his life points!) - but a lucky Mirage got off the last shot he needed on Elien for the game (after he saw Elien discard a Rebirth) It was a close, fun game. We thought that A Hero is Born should be made into a Rebirth as well to increase the chances of having two (Elien did NOT have both copies ) Either that or make Rebirth work on its own to save Elien/a champ.

TEST = Lewis (friend from gaming group) - Grognack (base deck)
CONTROL = Kieron (friend from gaming group) - Rallul (base deck)
(Bear in mind that these lads are N00bs when compared to the level of play in these forums!)

    Initial Game
    Winner: Grognack
Errata Card Balance Compared to Old Cards: More Balanced
Errata Card Fun Compared to Old Cards: More fun and friendly
Errata Cards Played in the Game: 2xFreeze
Errata Cards Built as Magic in the Game: None
Comments. This version of Freeze was much preferred as it could not lock down Rallul. Although Ice Shatter never came out it was a threat that could not be ignored. However, the game was won in spectacular fashion by the humble Fury ability. Fighters went fury mad and caused 4 wounds to Rallul - Ragnor finished him off - pretty bonkers stuff (Lewis gets Fury to trigger a LOT!)

    Reverse Game
    Winner: Grognack

Comments: This game was a slug-fest. Rallul went on a successful early offensive using all his tricks to chain summon Stone Golems and wound Grognack. While Grognack walled himself in. The game revolved around Grognack trying to keep his Ice Walls alive for Ice Shatter - and Rallul trying to take them out. Rallul succeeded in destroying at least one Ice Wall - but then fell prey to a lone Fighter and Fury - it was revenge time! With one health remaining - Rallul attempted to take out Grognack's last Ice Wall - and whiffed! Grognack then used Ice Shatter to spawn Ragnor (he would not have been able to normally - only having 2 magic) and killed Rallul. Fun, Close game. We thought it might be nice to have 2 Ice Shatters (replace A Hero is Born with 1) to increase the chances - although the card might have to be nerfed a little.

TEST = Prelate - Grognack (base deck)
CONTROL = Lcanela - Immortal Elien (base deck)

    Initial Game
    Winner: Grognack
Errata Card Balance Compared to Old Cards: More Balanced and manageable
Errata Card Fun Compared to Old Cards: Much more fun
Errata Cards Played in the Game: 2xFreeze 1xIce Shatter
Errata Cards Built as Magic in the Game: None
Comments. Grognack went on the offensive with a first turn Fury fest - followed up by a Ice Shatter on turn 3 that spawned Ragnor onto the field along with Smashers. This assault was so furious that IElien had to hide behind walls and build magic furiously while blocking with Warriors. Ragnor furied through the blockers, taking hits, and wounded IElien. IElien summoned Hell Drake - who whiffed on Ragnor and then got double Frozen. Ragnor finished off IElien. The game was fun. We thought Freeze more much manageable at 2 copies, but wondered whether Ice Shatter should be 2 copies (only+4 magic in the long run) replacing A Hero is Born?

    Reverse Game

Comments: The game was very close. This time IElien went on the offensive, swarming the board. Every time an Ice Wall went up - it would get torn down. Walls of Ice Shard caused serious casualties, and Freeze on a Harbinger was used to try and protect the last Ice Wall. However, Burnt Sacrifice cleared the way and all the walls were destroyed (we thought this could possibly encourage turtling at the back with Ice Walls instead of placing them on the front rows) Helkar + Cultists charged Grognack and after a desperate fight he died. Ice Shatter was in the last 9 cards. Although the match was a lot of fun, we still thought Grognack needs 2 of the Ice Shatter events to help get the combo more easily (however, the potential turtling problem needs testing) Freeze was much easier to manage - but still useful. It was a fun dynamic of the game trying to take out Ice Walls in time.
