    I'm pretty sure Magic the Gathering has all clauses resolving together. For example, consider a spell which says "You heal 4 damage. Deal 2 damage to target creature." The entire spell gets countered if the target creature becomes an illegal target, and you not only don't deal the damage, you also don't heal 4 damage.

    In Magic, all of the targets must be immediately chosen as part of casting a spell. I imagine it'd work just as well in this game.

    Golden Veil does not change the legality of targeting Maeoni's unit. It simply cancels all effects of the spell/die power/ability that targets her unit, even if those other effects target different (still legal) cards. It's a conditional counterspell in Magic terms rather than the same as granting your creature hexproof.

    Right, that way of thinking about it works too. Just saying having all clauses resolve together is not without precedence .
