So, just thought I'd post a brief event review.
Had a great game on Saturday with Dustin.
No, I'll do more than that. So, I had been concerned with these new factions, I knew I liked the Jungle Elves, but I was a little iffy on the Cloaks, I wasn't sure if I would be able to play them well, so Dustin was kind enough to bring his Jungle Elves and Cloaks to let me test them out.
Cloaks (me) versus Jungle Elves (Dustin)
My first thought: Holy crap, that lioneer is within striking distance of my summoner. Must kill.
My second thought: I like these ranged common gunner chaps, they allow for some very interesting defensive maneuvering.
Overall, the thieves are a very useful unit, they put a lot of pressure on your opponent to really keep an eye on them, but I honestly ended up using them a lot of the time as a free poke unit, he comes, puts a damage on someone, and dies.
After surviving a couple of initial waves of Jungle Elves, both of our decks were running a little low. He'd managed to get a couple of champions out, one I annihilated and one I was whittling down, I managed to remove Miti Mumway using the Cloak special card, so he wasn't going to get a third champion. At this point, Dustin offered to conceed, but I, being a rash sort of person who likes to kill things, declined because I wanted to finish killing his champion.
I had him on the run, boxed his summoner in a corner with two scrappers (also very cool units). I had a champion coming in to finish him and a reserve champion in my hand just in case. Vlox had a few wounds on him but no one was near him anymore.
Dustin's turn: summoned a lioneer, charged him towards Vlox, and ate his face.
It was really a great game, very close, but I learned something very important: I love cloaks. I will be adding them to my collection very soon. They fit my playing style quite well, anyone who likes very flexible armies will enjoy them.
Just watch out for lioneers. They are not nice.
Many props to Dustin for organizing the event and for being a great opponent, even though indulging my desire to kill his champion cost me the game, he didn't gloat or make fun of me (which I totally deserved). Anyone in the Orange county area, join us next time! I'm not sure if I'm quite as much fun to play as Dustin, but I do try.

I was just about to do a game write up but you beat me to it. Haha, I love the irony of offering you the victory
I'm planning a demo on 4/2 (you are always welcome to come). Do you want to meet mid month for a more intense session?
-
I should be there. Mid-Month would work great! Let's talk days on Saturday.
