    Default The Book of Magos

    The Book of Magos
Champion of the Mercenaries - Reinforcement Pack: Rukar's Power

Bio: The wizard known as Magos appears human, but no one knows from whence he came or where his loyalties lie. In battle his eyes are like that of a hurricane - ferocious calm, while all else around him is destruction and chaos. He strikes down foes with blasts of magic, and at other times appears to draw arcane energy from the ether to power whichever Summoner he serves. But unlike other Mercenaries, Magos works for no coin. A Summoner may one day discover Magos among the rank of file of their forces, and the next day face him in an enemy’s army, with no explanation given. But despite his shifting allegiances, no Summoner with a shred of intelligence would ever turn away a wizard as powerful as Magos.

    Rulings and Clarifications
Q: If Magos dies, must I immediately discard excessive cards so that I only have 5 cards in hand?
A: No. Magos plays with the amount of cards you draw in phase one. Since there is no hand-size limit, you will simply draw up to 5 cards again during phase one, if you have less than 5 cards in hand, or keep the excess until you play cards.

Anyone have much experience with Magos? It's not clear to me which factions (if any) he would work well in. I've tried him in the Cave Goblins to increase the likelihood of chaining several events (e.g. Goblin Rush-Goblin Rush-Goblin Horde Attack-Goblin Rage-Goblin Invincibility) but you really need to get him out early for that to work.

In general Io say he works well for any faction. He does wonders with CG and FK especially, but he does require beiong out early and often to be good. A Hero is Born is worthwhile to get him out IMO.

Mango is ridiculously good in CL as well, try him out in a build... He wins me game after game in tough CL match up

Great with VG, you actually get a ranged champion that way :P

Especially with CG he allows you to spam even more commons which a summoning cost of 0. However, I think there are better Champions for CG (Mook, Blarf + any other).

I'd actually prefer Magos over Blarf. Really any CG champ except Mook is replaceable enough imo

Magos is good in the FK, but I like all of their champions and I like Malevolence in a FK deck so it's hard to decide who to replace.
PrometheusLKR is Magos the Wise in Rallul's Banquet. Magos is never deceived.

I think he would probably be really good in The Filth - helping you get more Mutations into your hand faster. I'm gonna see if I can build a Filth deck including him and test it out.

Been doing really well with Magos and Hulgorad in the Filth, removing Abom and Corpy.
