Default The Book of Skeletal Archers

    The Book of Skeletal Archers
Common of the Fallen Kingdom - Expansion 1: Fallen Kingdom

Bio: Unfit for heavy, close fighting, Ret-Talus uses the bones of his enemies as missile troops. Bone is a currency Ret-Talus is rich in, and the overly decayed nature of these soldiers means enemies are often cheated of magic power when they strike them down.

    Rulings and Clarifications
Q: What happens if my Reaper kills one of my own Skeletal Archers?
A: First, roll the dice for the archer's Magic Locked ability. If it is locked, put the Skeletal Archer in the discard pile. If it is not, then you must place the Archer under the Reaper as Soul Harvest dictates.

This means, by the wording on both cards, that only units that would go to the magic pile must be placed under the Reaper, and you have to check with Magic Locked if this is the case or not.

Magic Locked affects both players, even the controlling one.

I thnk it'd be adequate to add a question/answer to the Reaper and Skeletal Archer:

Q: What happens if my Reaper kills one of my own Skeletal Archers?
A: First, roll the dice for the archer's Magic Locked ability. If it is locked, put the Skeletal Archer in the discard pile. If it is not, then you must place the Archer under the Reaper as Soul Harvest dictates.

Indeed it does. It should also be noted that you have to roll on Magic Lock for Dark Sacrifice too.

What happens when a frozen Skeletal Archer is killed? Freeze negates abilities but it also says discard it when the unit is killed. So do you roll for magic locked or not?

My first thought on reading this is, "Why the heck would anyone put a Freeze on a Skeletal Archer?"

But I suppose if it's the endgame, Grognack is wounded, FK is out of magic, and Ret-Talus is already frozen, then it would make sense.

If I remember, archer just die with no magic lock attempt can be made. Freeze negate ability, the freeze card itself are being destroy (discard) at the same time as archer

Freeze freezes the archer's magic in place and doesn't allow Ret to retrieve it, to my understanding.
