Thread: Common Unit Fillers

  1. #1

    Default Common Unit Fillers

i may be wrong, but think it would be enjoyed by many if Plaid Hat Games released a type of expansion that would contain enough commons of a certain faction to give you a total of 10 of each Common Unit.

for example a Guild Dwarves Filler Pack would come with:

    2 Defenders
    4 Spearmen
    6 Engineers

this way, players can fully customize their Faction Decks without buying multiple starter sets.

i understand if this isnt profitable, but it think itll be greatly aprecciated
    thanks for listening

If there is not going to be a competitive format and play scene, i would personally won't like this approach since i will be getting more of the same.

IMHO, a release is not a simple thing, so why waste the resources to publish something that can be useful only in league or other competitive formats? You can always proxy cards for casual play after all.

Would you really want to play with 10 Engineers? I like the mix just the way it is.

    I agree.

I think the best thing to do is find some friends who play or give starters to friends for their birthday or holidays. Then pool your resources if you want to try something weird, like an 8 Defender, 8 Engineer, 2 Spearman (required) deck.

all understandable points, i just wanted there to be a way to satisfy my slight OCD of having any combination without having to spend quite a bit more money.

do you think single unit cards will ever be sold?

It is possible that third party retailers might do such a thing, but I wouldn't count on it, that mostly happens with blind purchase games.

Its the shipping costs that stop me from getting a 3rd Goblin & Dwarves pack for those extra Berserkers and Engineers!

I'm chiming in a little late here but couldn't you just make proxy cards in sleeves to try something before buying it all.

This IS an old thread. LOL. But I'll chime in as well.

+1 also on a solution to get several commons of a certain faction up to 10-18.

Most CCGs are able to skirt around this need somewhat by having limits on the copies of a card you can have in your deck (MTG has it at 4, while SWs has a huge cap at 18)

Perhaps a future big box set can incorporate some extra copies? Or maybe the future additional summoner packs can include this?

I believe phg's package method is solid and reasonable, at most you need to purchase is 2 of the faction you must own; and the game is perfectly fine with just single set of each, you really dont need 2

Thing is SW is one of those rare game that you only purchase once and you will enjoy it for the rest of your life (i hope this stay true)... So I really dont mind forking over just little bit of money

but if you must, maybe you can convince a friend to split the already affordable price of a set?
