Great news, because Google is supposedly releasing a low cost Nexus tablet soon.
sweet, thanks for all the info/replys!
Also there are many tablets that do NOT have the android market..BUT, there is an easy tutorial on how to get it on practically any tablet (Including the Nook & Random Amazon tablets). This can even be done without rooting the device!
Is it possible to play a game on Android with someone on an iPhone? Not asking if this particular app will have that feature since I doubt they've announced anything like that yet, but I'm curious if it's even possible. I could see Apple not wanting to allow that.
I am guessing it is possible, as technology is amazing, but it is probably very difficult and won't be worth implementing.
Yes cross platform is already available for certain games. One for example is a MMORPG The World of Magic which is available on both android & Iphones & you can play together. Im sure theyre are others. Its all up to the game developer honestly![]()
There are a number of cross platform games. The big hitters are Draw Something and Words with Friends (and its derivatives). I'm sure it takes a lot more work, but its probably worthwhile to do it.
It all depends on logistics. Unfortunately there are many different screen resolutions and dimensions to consider on the android platform. Many times you have to create multiple versions of the same graphic sets. Sometimes you have to come up with multiple UI solutions for the same issue because what works on one platform might not on another.
Even if a game is 3d or has procedurally/programmatically generated graphics there are extra considerations to be made(and work).
Its easier and less risky for a Dev to choose an IOS app for a games first iteration because you have one standard screen size with two resolutions. So essentially you create your graphics at the larger size and your done.
Its why most games/apps come out on ios first. Its a good litmus for wether a game will be successful enough to warrant a conversion, even if a dev-platform was used that allows you to target different OS's from the start.
Pro's and Cons of an open or closed OS, the debate still rages!
So, now that it's been released for iOS, are there any updates on the Android front? Please? (And can I add a plug to also bring it to Windows 8 and Windows Phone 8, please?)
