The
Cloaks teach you about feints and mind games.
Like many factions, they've got Magic Drain, which encourages your opponent to use few Units.
However, the ever-present threat of
Raid and a fresh
Thief means that your opponent will want to seal your lanes of movement.
… but if they seal their lanes of movement with multi-lifers, you can use Scrappers to jump by.
And if they cluster together,
Violet can make them pay.
If they hang back,
Scam can whittle away at their defenses.
If they try to press , you can summon
Dagger in retaliation.
And if they try to clog your walls to prevent you from Backstabbing them, that's when you Magic Drain them.
This stuff is cyclical.
And the best part is,
Vlox can copy any of these abilities. Blindside up to follow in with either Steal or Backstab the following turn. Use the
gunner's Greater Sneak to get out of trouble or threaten the opponent's Summoner. If you're not using
Vlox, you're not using the
cloaks.
The best way to play the
cloaks is to learn to play their cards at the best time.
Assassinate and
Cloak of Shadows cost magic to use to their fullest because they are potentially devastating at the right times, and
Spy lets you plan ahead even better while foiling their plans. These concepts of foresight and timing will continue to pay dividends when applied to other factions.
