I've been experimenting a bit with this build, and I've had pretty good success with it so far in testing:

    Sera

    Leah
    Kalon
    Malevolence

    8x Guardian Knight
    8x Priest
    1x Stalwart Archer
    1x Owl Familiar

It's pretty similar to the deck I ran at Gamer's Reunion, only it runs an Owl Familiar and Leah. You want to use either the OF or AHiB to get Leah out as your first Champion, and then grind it out for a bit with some aggressive hand dumping and Sera + Leah Healing. That will get some cards into your discard early to get decent Summoning Surges online. If Leah dies unexpectedly, you've still got the magic you built to summon Kal or Mal. I usually get all 3 champions out at some point, along with the odd 2x Priest + HJ here and there.

I'm assuming the Owl Familiar is there to complement the use of A Hero Is Born?

Leah into Kalon/Mal seems about standard for a Leah build.

How many Guardian Knights would you summon typically in a game?
    Summoner Wars Compendium Stats

Yeah. It's just insurance. Most games, you'll probably build it or get it too late and build it.

Yeah, probably. But I already had a deck that ran KQ as the third champion, so she fit even better. And people are often talking about how bad AHiB is...

Very few. You start with 3 of those on the board. Maybe one or two later on when you're trying to protect Sera or Mal or something. It really depends on your late-game magic flow.

Personally, I'd sub Jacob in for either Mal or Kal. That's just me though, I love all 3av+ranged.

    Yeah, me too.

I don't have duplicate sets, so I can't go over the original number of Priests. Sub Jacob for Malevolence, and Cavalry Knights for the extra Priests, and this is my standard default build for the Vanguards.

Seems like Grubs could work well here instead of Mal.

I don't have enough Priests for this deck, but I've been running a similar deck with Spear Grounders in place of some of the Priests. The SGs reliably get 2 attack dice or a diagonal attack, which I think is a little more valuable than the Holy Judgements. I almost always get all three champions out, although occasionally I'll have to hold Mal or Kal for a while before I've hit AHIB or Leah. I think the Owl Familiar may be a good fit for my deck. The deck is quite effective, albeit a bit predictable once you recognize it. Still, there are several decks that really struggle to counter this.

I would use (3)Angels instead of priests (3) and Jacob over Mal. Angels give you more mobility and a cheaper alternative so that you can bring out your 7 costers.

    Jacob because he complements Kalon.

I haven't played reinforced VG yet, but in paper it looks that Leah, Kalon and Jacob are the best default army (ignoring commons).
