I say from the information you given against the CG, Violet and both MD is the highest priority. MD is pretty much sure fire and Violet is very important in CG match up. Scam is great too but little costly right at the beginning of the game, since you will need 5 magic and perhaps a few more in reserve to activate Escape on him and Vlox, just in case they miss the 2av attack (it happens)
Magos in the other hand, is near useless in CG match up imo, his 6 cost (which in this match up likely never reaches) and the fact that his ability tends to excel in slower game, where in here you surely would not gets more than 2 turn out of him... unless you protect him more than Vlox, CG will eat Magos up before you actually get anything from him.
So ya, other than building Magos in your given hand, I say drawing 2x MD, plus scam and violet early game is almost a god hand against CG.![]()

I would have held on to that hand. It's the Cave Goblins, so it's not like they're likely to go into a waiting game building up magic while you sit and rot. There are going to be casualties soon, and either you'll end up with 4 magic worth of dead goblins to play Violet, or they'll put out enough units to exceed yours and you can play a Magic Drain.
Also, yes, I'd kill at least one of my own units (presumably the Thief), to expedite either goal.
