I've been posting in two of the PA player threads about any interest in planning a western PA, specifically in the Pittsburgh area, tournament. It seems there are several players either in the area or within a couple hours who are interested, and I'm creating this thread to see if we can keep things rolling along to an actual event in the near future.

Here's a brief breakdown:

What: Summoner Wars Tournament - swiss format? (prizes/no prizes?)
Where: Pittsburgh area
When: July 9th or 16th?

If you are interested, please post stating availability during this time span. Also if you know of possible locations, list them and I'll maintain a list in this post.

Interested Players:

Possible Locations:
Legions Hobbies and Games - north Pittsburgh
gamjuven's church - Monroeville

I'd be interested, though June and July get busy for me. Maybe 1st weekend in July, or mid June?

I'd be interested, if i'm not busy the week that you're doing it

I am down for this! Can't do it 4th of July Weekend (sure I am not the only one) and June 11th. Other then that I think I am free all other weekends. If this is during the day on a Saturday I don't see a problem.

This place might be a good option for a location: http://www.legionsgames.com/

They have a lot of room and already have a group form Board Game Geek meet their once a month play board games.

There also really in to miniatures games so it wouldn't be that hard to talk a few people in to trying out summoner wars. (Maybe a few of them would be in to a light game that places in 30-45 minuets).

Let me know what I can do to help.

My church is a great place to host the tournament. It's free, in a gym, tons of space, AC, bathrooms and water fountains. I could probably get a couple of other people to play in the tournament as well.

The difficulty is in the timing. I'm gonna have to get back to you guys on that one. Weekends in the summer are pretty busy but I'll see what I can do.

Where is your church at?

Monroeville. It's New Covenant Church like right past Monroeville Park.

I'm certainly up for a tourney if it comes to fruition. Either the church or the game shop would work for me.

I'm leaning more toward maybe the second or third Saturday in July now. That would be July 9th or 16th. Origins is June 22-26th in Columbus, OH and they'll be having two Summoner Wars events as well as several Heroscape events. I'm not 100% certain I'll be able to go, but I'm sure there are others in the area who may be interested, plus pushing into July will give us more time to plan and prepare.

Any thoughts?

If we can get a place to hold this lined up for the 9th, I'd prefer that; but the 16th works for me as long as I have advanced notice. Personally, I'd like to try my hand at the Mountain Vargath by then, so I'm all for having time to play with the new factions beforehand.

Let me talk to Legions and see if they have that day open. They don't sell Summoner Wars atm, but I hope to change that soon.

Would any one up be for playing a few games this Sunday? Maybe we can talk about setting up this tournament and/or demo day in person.

Sorry Mosley. I'd love to get together and play some games, but I won't be able to do it Sunday. I've already got plans, but I do still want this tournament to work out. I've been trying to figure out if I'm going to make the trip to Origins in Columbus or not, but I'm still hoping we can pull something together for July for our Pittsburgh/western PA players.

Hey rudy - any updates on this? It would be really cool to get a tournament going, or to even combine this event with this one (http://www.plaidhatgames.com/sum_forums/showthread.php?t=961).

Yes, I still want to get something going. I've just been distracted by another busy summer. But I think joining up for an event in Ellwood City, PA could work. I know I'd be willing to make the drive if I have the day free.
