View Full Version : Why no white? VG should be white...

This is some random question, I was planning to ask Colby on the podcast...

VG is now my top faction but I really dislike how their color look almost like TO's blue, when I put cards in my box I had to make sure those two faction are not too close to each other as I mixed them up this one time

VG in every way should be colored white to me, they are the opposite spectrum of FK and they are black... so why not white for VG? I can imagine VG will look so sick in white color back and boarder, I mean they are all angelic and stuff

Speaking of which, I find JE's lime green is great and PE's red stick out a lot, however rest of the faction seem to be to much in the same darker shade of the color wheel... DD and SE's same purple color is also a little of a let down :(

The purple really isn't that similar. The DD color looks more fuchsia or magenta than the SE's violet color.

Dude, that's what I'm saying all the time, the vanguard is white and that's why I use white sleeve on them. It is so weird how they're blue

That is an interesting question...maybe Colby is waiting for another faction to come out that is going to use the white background....on the other hand its not that bad i kinda like that there an off blue color. I guess in my opinion going with black and white is just to mundane and has always been used when you want to decipher who is good and who is bad.

Two reasons I can think of as to the reason why we have not seen a faction in white yet are A: The flag of surrender is frequently white. When you surrender, you "raise the white flag".;) B: White is the color of mourning in some Oriental cultures. So, if the Vanguards were white, it would be seen as them either surrendering, being sad about death, or both. Those are the only reasons I can think of.:)

That's definitely some interesting info Infection, but I'm really not seeing those as the reasons for no factions being white. We aren't an Oriental culture and I think it's clear the VG aren't either. I suppose though that the flag of surrender has a very slim chance of being the reason, but I doubt it.

I think white would just look bad with the Vanguard.

I think a little white would look good for them, but not the whole card back. That said, I have them in white sleeves and they look pretty good.

agrees, the color would look really nice with lighter tint even if's it not pure white, like perhaps a baby blue tone like this Vanguard or Vanguard

currently VG's color is very similar to TO's, not a complain just I really wish VG's color a little bit more "peaceful"

You want more peaceful? Blue is the color of the Pacific Ocean!

I think a lighter blue would suit the VG better, their color is way to close to the color of the TO. I think Sauam was correct, maybe a baby blue would do well with the VG.

I think baby blue would be just a tad too light, but I agree on the lighter Vanguard color. If there weren't faction symbols, I wouldn't be able to tell between the two.:o

Being color blind, I don't pay attention to the color thing. They all could just be the same color to me, it doesn't matter. Maybe for some players it's a holdover from M:tG, which has no place on discussion boards about a game that has balanced play. :p

I'm just glad Truth used both color and faction symbols to differentiate the decks, so that I can use the faction symbols to tell decks apart. That's more important to me than the color of the deck.
