Well more than the average kid in your block at least.
Summoner Wars shares plenty of the spacial intricacies you'd find in a game like Chess. I was wondering if those who used to play the old pawn pusher would be more likely to be drawn and be good at a game like Summoner Wars.
I used to play Chess a lot myself, but that was probably more than 10 years back. Still, I'd sometimes find myself performing maneuvers I picked up from Chess from long back.
Neat. :D

I learned how to play chess when I was six. There was a month or two where I'd play my dad almost every day, and as near as I can tell, he never went easy on me. I still remember the board state when I won against him for the first time, and how he immediately asked to play again.
I never really played chess a whole lot that much after that year, although I did have a strange habit of stepping like a knight moves in chess when I was following my mother in the supermarket. I wouldn't hop, but each step I'd take would be one knight's move from the last.

I for one didn't used to play chess, I still play chess. So do my siblings, ages 6, 6, and 5.
Edit: oh, and they play summoner wars too.

Haha. Dude, are you stealing my childhood or something? That's exactly how it played out for me as well.
Learned from Dad. He'd be my main opponent till the better part of my childhood before hitting junior high. I still remember the day I beat him at it. Dinner room table, night time, and he had this huge grin on his face after as if to say "I've taught you well young padawan." Then stopped playing around junior high.
Never picked up a strage habit like yours though dude. Haha.

Haha, I still love to play chess. Its a great game, and a fun time.
I also used to always step in a knights move pattern accross the tiles in my house. The linoleum tiles were squares, and I just always would walk in that L shape with my steps. Kinda odd.
But yeah, chess and this game are both pretty cool. I'm not actually sure which I prefer to play.

I love to play chess and I don't play as much as I should. I learned from my dad as well and I've only ever beaten him once.

Definitely played chess, I was okay at it, but never went to that next level where people start studying gambits from famous chess players. I did enjoy it, but I really prefer games with variable powers (like Summoner Wars), mirror matches tend to be a little boring to me.

See. Depending on the size of the squares, it's actually a pretty normal-sized step.
I'm not weird. Nope.

I'm with you on the Knight walk. I still find myself doing it sometimes.

The first board game I ever learned how to play was checkers followed by chess. Chess is a classic, no other game really compares.

Don't really play chess a lot, although I get in a few games a month at school, what are you supposed to do with no homework in study hall?
Never had a knight-step though, although I do have wierd walking patterns on the sidewalk outside my house...
2 steps on this square, 2 on the next, 3 on the third, 2 on this square 2 on the next...

Surprisingly, I try getting into chess then I find it rather boring... l need something more variant when it comes to the chess pieces but yet has the tactical movement aspect of chess
SW supply that fix very well

yeah, I like chess, but I prefer the 'rolling with an unpredictable situation' aspect of SW, since you have random card draws and die rolls.

For me, it's not "used to", I still do. I have a few trophies from my short stint in University.

I love chess, I got into it when I was about five and never looked back. I really got into SW because it was like a modernized form of chess.
