I was wondering how many of you sleeve your cards for Summoner Wars?
Do you feel it is necessary? Compared to other games, is there less shuffling in Summoner Wars?

It is a must in my book to sleeve playing cards, as a long term card player, I can easily say it will save you money and headache down the road

I wish to keep my card in tip top condition for a long time, as this game and it's mechanics, it should last a long time even if you stop buying any other expansion

There is also a huge concern with my friend playing my cards and has one of those wet-palm-of-doom... they ruin cards like you just dump them in the sink... then there is bending, dirt and water spill which will create this little black dots build-up, which are quite gross

Oh also, the later set has almost 50% thinner card stock... making them much flimsier. I should of show you last time, it's much easier to bend

I always sleeve my cards, some of my decks aren't sleeved yet, but I know what I'm gonna buy to sleeve them in.

And, it makes your mercs a surprise, and nicely balances things.

I don't. I'm considering it, but probably not.

Try it man, some of the sleeves they have out there are perfect for each faction. I've found one for my JE with a elven archer in the jungle on them.

Speaking of which, what is everyone using?

I am using clear ultra-pro, sized for yugioh card, which are perfect for the longer-horizontal end but little wider on the vertical side

Now I am seriously consider using one single solid color throughout, I want those sleeve that hugs is super nice so it is much easier on the board while moving them (at the moment, when I move unit within a crowded zone, sometime it knocks each other around the place)

If I do, it would definately use clear. Does anybody have clear, small-as-possible sleeves? If so, what brand, price etc.

Ps. One of my burns is starting to crack.

These (http://www.trollandtoad.com/p287601.html) are pretty good, but the cards stick out a bit at the end. Still my choice of sleeve.

I don't use card sleeves. The group of guys I play with are pretty careful with my gaming components. Most likely I will have to replace all my cards in the far off future. But thats why I buy a second copy of everything.

from the look, they are quite a bit larger than SW's card
the card dimension is around 58mm x 89mm

my ygo sized ultra-pro are 61mm x 90mm ... just a 2mm too wide but those 2mm adds up on the board

Do they fit on a space?

They definitely do. When the card is on the board, sideways. The left to right of the card is perfect and still has a total of 2mm of space on both side for leeway

However from top to bottom, since my sleeve took up that 2mm leeway of space. It can get in the way, still fit on the space though if you wondering

Basically. Look for sleeve that are 59mm x 90mm and you're golden. The 1mm extra is for the card to slide in. Still, my ultra pro shouldn't be hard to find and that 2mm is only slight minor annoyance

On another card sleeving thread I posted a site and good card protectors I use. My brand are the Max Protection sleeves or the Yu-Gi-Oh sleeves, they are protected from water, harsh light, they're awesome.

Some of the cards are smaller than others, did you factor that in?

I sleeve all my cards- although personally I prefer the ones with solid/designed backs, the clear ones are much, much too flimsy for my liking. The ones I use have plenty of room on all sides, fitting the card snugly, with maybe a mm or two at most of surplus space on the vertical, narrow length of the card.

I'll try to find some packaging so I can tell you what kind :/

EDIT- HA! Yes, that's it, the Max Protection sleeves! (Thanks Sara Eldwin's Boyfriend*)

*You really need to find an abbreviation for that...

EDIT 2- Yeah, more random comments that I forgot...

Just a helpful hint, to save yourself time for set-up then get two different packs of card sleeves and use a different color to sleeve the starting units, unless you're playing Apacolypse. (I use plain black) One pack can sleeve the starting units for many decks.

Hmmm, an abbreviation for my name, I suppose I could be SEB :D. Back to the point though, the variety of sleeves Max Protection has are great, they seem to have a design on the back for every one of the SW factions. I am also not a fan of the clear sleeves they are flimsy and the SW cards don't fit very well in them.

The BEST are the Orange Mayday USA Chimera sleeves. They're transparent, and exactly the good size. Considering some cards and sleeves vary a little, out of a pack of 100, there are a couple that will feel too small, but otherwise, they fit like gloves.

No extra sleeve margin around the card too. I can't stand it when we actually see the sleeve too much around a card.

Of course I bought huge amounts of those, to sleeve all my SW stuff. I got no choice, since I do demos and tournaments with them, and that players use my stuff!

Those Orange Mayday card sleeves are 57.5 X 89 MM, less than Sauam suggested.

I can get 100 for $1.79, so it would be pretty sweet if those fit.

Really? I've been using the Purple ones. They do have space on the edges, but I think they give extra protection to the cards.

But I'm intrigued by the Orange ones. Don't the cards warp if they're too tight?

Yeah. There are approximately 10 sleeves out of 100 that are a little too tight. If you meet one of these, you won't be able to push the card into the sleeve with ease. So only the good ones will be kept if you never push too much, and the card shouldn't bend in those cases.

At worst, try out one pack, as they're pretty cheap and easy to get. If you're satisfied with out they work and look, then order a bigger amount. It's kind of frustrating losing some of them because they're too tight, but I keep those for the proxies I make during playtesting. Might as well keep them for custom factions too!

These mayday card sleeve sound perfect to the tee, my suggestion is 58x90 but only a very close estimation. I do worry on that 57.5 that .5mm might be cutting little too close to being just too tight (thats what she saids )

anyways, Airdrop, if you can get these at 1.79 (meeplemart?) I would likely get them too as I really want the best fit possible. My ultra-pro are great but I am stupidly picky when it comes to sleeve...

Are you not able to use the slightly smaller ones? You said you are not able to push it in with ease, but is it still usable?

I don`t make customs or proxy, so would I be throwing those out?

Yup, MeepleMart is great isn`t it?
They also have the premium ones, you only get 50 for the same price, but they are very good quality. The description on them says `if you have rare cards or cards you really like this is for you`, I`ll probably still be going for the 100`s though (that`s what she said). :D

Well, sometimes the cards are not all exactly of the same size (between sets). That margin is however very very small. I was able to use some of those I put aside that way, but not a lot of them.

That's why I suggest trying them out with only a single pack first. You'll get around 85-90 good ones out of a pack of 100, so it's really not that bad considering the beautiful result.

Quite a bit of a necro on the thread, but is anyone else having problems with the Mayday Chimera sleeves and the Master Set cards?

I am going to switch to the Premium orange mayday sleeves (I have something else to sleeve with the non premium ones I am using right now).

Did anyone have any problems with these? Are they bigger than the non premiums? Will the master set still hold my cards with the premiums?
