Rychean has agreed to help me plan tournaments for GenCon.

Rychean and I discussed this today. It will be best to submit all of our events together. WOTC/Plaidhat. WE will get more space and we will be together so coverage will be easier. Also, we will need judges for the SW events these can be volunteers from either community, but it would be nice to have a director dedicated to just SW. I could be that guy.

I would do it, but I'm planning on having a booth. I'm sure some volunteers will emerge.

You can count on me to volunteer for both SW and HS.

My son will be stoked too as I am taking him to GenCon as his 16th birthday present and the more events we can get in the better.

I'll volunteer for setup/take down of Summoner Wars tables -- has to be easier than setup/take down of Heroscape ;)

And it would definitely take up less storage space in my basement.

Side by side would be awesome. I'll attend both (and help if in need, I don't think I can run stuff though considering my age)!

Any exclusives I do will always be available as a free bonus to ordering something on this site for those that can't pick them up with a purchase at a convention.

Well Im planning to attend GenCon this year (3rd year in a row!) and if Summoner wars is there then count me in!

You guys should hold the 1st annual Summoner Wars World Championship!

...Now, If only we could get our first set of expansions by then...:

Everyone knows the World Championship is held in a shady warehouse in Morocco, and losers forfeit their lives. Man, you should see their faces when they realize what a bad shuffle is about to cost them!

I would be willing to volunteer to do demos of the game during GenCon in exchange for an exhibitor badge. I have experince doing demos at GenCon for AEG (Warlord, L5R), Fantasy Flight (A Game of Thrones) and TriKing (Anachronism). I live 45 minutes drive away from Indianapolis so I would have no need for lodging. If I work all day for all four days I would just take some credit to be used toward SW product in exchange for the work.

Just an update here.

We have submitted 3 Summoner Wars events for GenCon 2010:

1on1 tournament
Team tournament
Free Build tournament.

Once the events are approved and scheduled, we will start an event thread for descriptions, questions, and clarifications.

It is coming soon!

Any info you guys can provide on how you went about setting up the tourney would be appreciated. After TotalCon last weekend we said we should have had a small SW tourney. This will be rectified next year.

nyys, all 3 events will be limited to 32 players. So 5 round Swiss is what we were looking at for Free Build and Basic Tournament. The Team tournament would be 16 teams so we were going to do 3 rounds with a 1 game final. Here is the schedule:

1on1 tournament - Saturday 3pm to 8pm
Team tournament - Friday 3pm to 9pm, with 1 Game Final at 1pm Saturday
Free Build tournament - Sunday 10a to 3pm

Team games take almost twice as long in SW so we allotted 2 hours per round.

With the Team Tournament ..how is that going to work as far as registration goes? Will there be 16 registration spots or will there be 32 where folks can get teamed up if they dont have a partner going in?

GenCon required it be set up as one event ticket per player, not per team.

We will be making every effort to NOT be matching up players for this. In fact, I put that in the event description, basically saying get yourself a teammate and each of you buy a ticket.

I really want to discourage the notion that a player can just get a teammate later or one will be assigned, because that is not how we are going to do it. We are not a match making service. :D

Obviously we will adjust to the needs of any given situation. But, what we don’t want is 32 single players thinking we will pair them off. We want 2 players showing up to play as a team. If there is one or two odd man out scenarios we will deal with them, but they would be the exception, not the norm.

Makes sense....was just checking.

Perhaps we can make a thread here for people looking for teammates or something when the time comes.

Yes, that is a good idea. Thanks!

For the 1v1 and team events, do we need to bring our own cards? Or will they be provided? I'm assuming the games are being played with the prebuilt decks without modification? Do we get to choose factions or are they random?

thanks
