Unit race

A few of the event cards seem to reference race. Is this just another way of referring to the faction? Do we need to worry about the units that are obviously not of their faction's race when playing those cards? I'm assuming, due to the straight-forward nature of the game, that we don't.

The Eater is not apparently actually a Goblin, but I'm assuming that the Horde Attack event would still affect it. The other similar situation that I can think of is the Fire Drake and the Spirit of the Phoenix event.

When it refers to Cave Goblin it is speaking of the faction. Units don't have a 'race' stat.

Remember that Mercenaries are not part of any faction, they are simply their own faction.

They will always say Common Of The Mercenaries, Champion Of The Mercenaries, or ... Summoner Of The Mercenaries. I believe there will only be champion and common mercenaries though.

This means that your mercenary will never actually be a part of your faction, so most of the events like the one you showed won't work on them.
