The Book of Fire Beasts
Common of the Phoenix Elves - Reinforcements 1 - Rukar's Power

http://www.summonerwars.com/firebeast.jpg

Fire Beasts are found within the lava-worn tunnels and caves of the volcanoes the Phoenix Elves call home. The first Phoenix Elves tamed the beasts, and the first Tundra Orc marauders resulted in the Fire Beasts being trained for combat. The creatures are naturally docile and trusting, but when frightened they can lash out with their crushing jaws, or more frightening, unleash the fires that burn within them in explosive blasts.

Rulings and Clarifications
If a Fire Beast has two Wounds and uses Hellfire, does the Fire Beast go to my Magic Pile?
Yes, if a Unit is destroyed, then it goes to the Magic Pile of the controller of the Unit that caused it to be destroyed.

From the card, it looks like the name is 'Firebeasts,' not 'Fire Beasts.'

Cave Goblins are my favorite faction, and I shudder to think what one of these guys would do to a group of fighters/slingers. Definitely give me reason to summon the eater

I dont believe there is much love on the Fire beast from the look of this thread... I have been proxy'ing the new Owl in a Holleas focus deck, which are coming to us in just week (so excited :D) and this fire doggy has been super duper awesomer within my playing

I do have to ask one question for those who tried this unit, when you have a Fire Beast that has 2 wound on it, do you believe it is good move to move it next to something and blow it up, netting itself and whatever it kills?... or how about just blowing it up but knowing it will not kill any unit (like a champ) but dealing that 1 wound and deprive them the magic?

This unit here is trickier to use than one might thinks... I am still trying to figure out is it a good idea to blow the dog up. I mean of course it is a good move if I can blow it up and kill like 2 unit around it, netting 3 magic in one go... but what if I cannot kill anything, or only kill 1 unit? is it still good? I guess not really

Also I had a game where I did a chain explosion with a 1 wound dog and a 2 wound dog, netting me 4 magic in total... not sure if that was good move but it was kinda cool

I haven't used them much, but I had auto burn them as soon as I could, given I'm not giving up an important choke or exposing a spot.

I prefer not to use the auto wound unless:

A) My FB is surrounded by 2+ units
B) My FB has one wound left

I think it depends on whether you need the doggy there to be in the way. If you don't need him to block something, then it's probably a good play to blow him up and kill something.

If you're attacking something with 2 life though, it might be better to just attack it with a normal attack as then you have about a coin flip to kill it.

In short - it depends.

Hmmm... interesting, so you would never consider throwing 2 dice but rather go for the auto 1? I think when the dog is still healthy it should throw dice

I see, A) is pretty much given, B) I am still trying to analyse, is it really worth it? Would you consider blowing it up as a must do move? Sometime I find that even a 1 life dog is pretty threatening and force my opponent to deal with it.. sometime

Yep, I agrees, it really depends... I just hope there is something like a flow-chart of sort on how to use the dog, like how to use it at every stage of its life total

I would like to hear more about this unit, I can see good potential in this dog, especially since once my shipment arrives, Holly focus deck will be the very first deck I make

more or less, the only time I use Hellfire is when I can kill my own Firebeast and inflict a wound on an enemy unit. Getting your own magic back is huge. +1 magic to you, -1 to the opponent.

yes, I would throw dice with a firebeast, so far in my games they have been nothing more than meat shields so that's their use.

In short - it depends.

It also depends upon unit count, both whether there are still CUEs in the deck and whether killing the dog will not reduce the number of attacks I make next turn or will prevent my opponent from making 3 worthwhile attacks.

It's circumstantial, but there are times to keep and blow up the dog.

question, how does fire beast interact with Bender's deceiver?

Is hell fire consider as an attack?

Hell Fire isn't an attack, because it doesn't use the terminology: "instead of attacking normally". There has been some changes in the latest FAQ, but I'm pretty sure this hasn't changed yet. So Fire Beasts can use Hell Fire to get rid of Deceivers.
