I know that you can do team 3 and 4 player matches... but i was wondering if you are allowed to do 3 or 4 player free for all's. The rules only state team matches. Also if this is allowed i was wondering how a 3 player game would be played or created.
I don't really like making house rules (unless it is just a quick game for fun), but in this case i have "reputation" for friends and siblings that play with me, which they get for winning and losing (5 for a win, 3 for a loss) and ranks that go along with it, so i always use the correct rules for that. Is there a way to do this that won't affect the legality of my little rep system.
Oh... are you allowed to combine 3 mats to make 6 players and so on? If so how would the rules work.
* I also have another quick question (doesn't have to do with this though). I am having trouble understanding how discarding works... how do you know "who" discards the cards into their discard pile. (For example, if i destroy a unit with freeze, who discards freeze?)
Sorry if these are kind of stupid questions.

I suppose that 4-player FFA is possible. The only problem is that weak Summoners like Elien might be screwed early if a powerful Summoner like Grognack started on his side and beelined straight for him.
3-player would not work unless you used a dummy player of some sort for the fourth player which is played by all players according to a pre-agreed algorithm (draw, play all possible Event Cards, Summon one unit of the highest possible cost, move toward and attack the closest figures, then Build one card at random, or something like that). Alternatively, you could just have one player solemnly pledge to attack his other faction at least as oftenly as the other players, or set up a kill-the-person-on-your-left with very strict sportsmanship rules, but that tends to not work as well if all of the players are actually trying to win.
Three mats and six players would work the same as normal 4-player. Truth has said that this works, it just takes a really long time.

Thanks. It kind of sucks there isn't really an official 3 player FFA game setup, for me at least.
I kind of like the dummy idea, maybe a neutral faction that everyone agree's on beforehand. Once the game begins each person could roll to see who controls the neutral faction first. Once it is the "dummies" turn that player could use that faction as if they controlled it. After each round (player 4 takes a turn), the next player in line (maybe an order like p1,p2,p3,p4) controls the dummy for that round and so on. Of course all of the cards would always stick, so however the last player left it is how the next player to control it would have it.
This could actually just be another game type, it would be cool to.

Well, it would honestly require a large departure from the way the 2-player game works. It's the nature of the rectangular grid and the lack of diagonal movement.
If there were 3-players, you would need to have some sort of arrangement for extra walls, I almost feel. And would need to use two maps and start players in not their starting positions. The conversion would be complicated and more difficult to balance, the finest part of this game.

This is just an idea but how would it work if you used the 4 player map setup
then had the players positioned on different side like so...
Player 1
Player 2 Player 4
Player 3
Then if you wanted to play 3 you could just have a dummy player... on one of those positions.
Summary at the end of the day why not just select one of the 3 players to play as 2 Factions and have a 2players vs 1Player with the one player playing as 2 Factions.
