Very nice. I don't have the original Dungeon Run, but just based on that, some of the newer mechanics look interesting. I might think about getting the new one first to see how it is.

This sounds great. I especially love how just about everything seems to be taking fan feedback into account. Can't wait to play. The new trap sounds particularly fun. Thanks for making awesome games.

And thank you for the kind words. Fan feedback is always taken into account - we want gamers to feel it's well worth plunking down their money for our games.

Sounds good. I loved the base game but I always felt we need more.... stuff. More mechanics and improved player interaction is welcomed.

Sounds great! I saw that it will be a standalone expansion, so do you think it would be an equally good entry point for a newcomer, or would they be better off buying the first one?

Wow. Grungebob. Haven't seen a post by you in a long while.

On topic, DR2 is gonna be quite a thing. I can sense the dedication put into it, and hope it turns out great.

Hi all! First time post here. I have two copies of Dungeon Run and can't wait for Dungeon Run 2. Any idea of when it will be available?

Mr Bistro, designer of the game, said somewhere else that it is still in development. So, even if things speed up a lot and if everything goes well, I'd still wouldn't be waiting for it before winter.

I definitely appreciate the efforts to keep players together.

Thanks...hopefully it can be my Christmas presant like my two copies of Dungeon Run were.

This looks like a definite improvement as far as being a stand-alone, but I'm slightly worried about how these changes might upset game balance when combined with the original DR stuff. For example, when there are very few Animates, Emma's Elementalism will be less useful, and Birodin's various Legacy powers will be less valuable when he can already use 75% of treasure (as opposed to around 64% in DR). Maybe it won't matter, though.

And having "Hunters" in Dungeon Run 2 will be kind of weird if their power is actually called "hunter," because Dungeon Run already has a "hunter" power (as seen in the Wolf), and it will be odd to have two separate powers with the same name.

Most of the playtesting for DR2 will be based around it being blended with the first game. As for the hunter thing, well that's just me forgetting the name was used - the ability names are just placeholders at the moment.

That's awesome to hear! I love DR! I wish there was another way for characters to advance other than just through encounter cards such as Stabbins for example. If there was some way he could get rewarded for using his slight of hand and mischievious ways for advancing. That each character would have a special way of achieving advancement along with encounters. These special ways of advancing would reinforce what their character special ways are and unique to them. Just an idea.

In my experience, Stabbins has no real trouble advancing the normal way. And if he steals a nice treasure, he could always offer to trade it to someone in exchange for an encounter card from their loot pile.

I haven't picked up the first one, but I am leaning towards picking up DR2. The tweaks to the game make it look like it'll be even better.

I just picked up the first one today, and have read through the rules. Looking forward to playing it this weekend, if I can find table space for it :)

The sneak preview of DR2 sounds great, and I'm already looking forward to seeing that, as well.

That's a good idea. I never thought of trading for encounter cards in loot pile. Too bad Stabbins couldn't pickpocket those too...;). One of the reasons I thought of this idea is that we've had problems in my group of players not able to advance due bad luck on the rolls and/or out of dungeon tiles.

From the Rulebook on page 10: 'A hero may also use an equip action to trade any treasure, artifact, or encounter cards with another hero who shares his dungeon tile.'

No Bistro required.

Well, I totally missed that one too. It does change a lot of things, and make those Beast Master type skills (and the one about traps on the dwarf) much more useful.

Obsidian is right. I toyed with the idea of using treasure to advance, but dropped it since it was almost always better to turn treasure in for a rating increase.

That is, for an increase in your brawn, magic, or skill rating.

Some people can use a single beast, animate, etc. to level up with 1 card. Dorian can make a trap by discarding a trap he killed.

You do that with encounter cards when you advance, right? I was wondering what Mr. Bistro meant with rating increase with treasure cards.

He meant that if you could level up with treasure, you'd never equip it. Hence, you can't level up with it.

They are, like said previously, cards that either allow you to discard only 1 card instead of two to Advance, but it requires specific types of monsters (Animates, Beasts and so on depending on the card). Often in a game when you take those skills, you end up not fighting any of this type, but the others do. So now you gain much more from trading, since you can aim for these cards and give away your treasures. Same goes for the Dwarf who can build traps if he has some in his inventory. I've never been able to pull it off, since somehow, only my opponents get traps and I never do.

So in sight of this rule, those ability cards which I thought were extremely situational end up being much stronger and much more reliable, though only through trading.

I think it would help people want to stay together if you could assist or sabotage when in an adjacent room (and you would automatically move into the room with the person you were assisting/sabotaging).

Adam

Sabotaging from an adjacent room would be a fun hero ability. I don't think it'd be necessary as a general rule but it'd be fun to try.

I'd say DR2 is pretty much completed from a design standpoint, but there's still play testing and production work to do, and we're going to be thorough when we test it. I'm pretty delighted with the 8 new heroes. They bring a lot of new ideas to the table, some of them in ways you wouldn't expect.

After DR2 is released, will there be any sort of plan to sell an 'expansion' of just the heroes (and skills) from DR1?
I'm probably going to wait for DR2, but would really like to have all the heroes, if not all of both games.
