Suprised that there has been no discussion concerning this guy. He is actually one of my favorite PE units. The extended range is very useful IMO. Melee units have to risk exposure longer to reach them.

Yeah, extra range puts down a surprising amount of hurt. To deal with them I usually summon a ranged dude to shoot 'em down. Then my dude gets killed by something else and we're even, except they have one less annoying Archer.

not until CL's sniper arrives and out range them... muahahahah :D

but ya, these guys are annoying as heck, one of those underrated unit I feel, their power comes in where it forces your opp to "hide" even further down the field... I always like these unit where it plays a role even when they're not in the field yet

I think the greatest significance of the PE Archer is that it means the PE always win in a standoff. If there's a situation where you want to say, "OK, I'll just sit here and wait for you" and I say "No, I'll just sit here and wait for you", the onus is always on the non-PE player to make the first move.

And forcing your opponent to do something is very important.:D

While I agree for the most part, thel will lose those same standoFfs with Ballistas and Snipers. But PE Archers are cheaper and their ability isn't restricted by movement

Excellent point. The PE archer's threat range is six, whereas the threat range of Snipers is the same, and the Ballistae have five all the time. Snipers, though, will not move more often than not because the Gunners like to move very far.;)

Good points all. I think Snipers and Ballista will still outshoot PE Archers, but those units don't exist in a vacuum. How well a sniper does vs a PE Archer is different then vs another unit. When comparing units, it's not a unit a vs unit b idea your debating. Its (unit a vs unit c-z) vs (unit b vs unit c-z) as well. For instance, the limited mobility of snipers means that they can't manuever out of the way if they wanna get that full range. Unlike PE Archers, who can manuever back and still more then likely get their shot in at their full range.

I really love how the game is so balanced lol.

Can I clarify that the Far Shot ability can only target units WITHIN 4 spaces?
It seemed to have generated some confusion in my gaming group.
Thanks

Specifically, Far Shot allows a PE Archer's ranged attack to go one more space beyond in a straight line. So no, not within four spaces, but within four clear straight line spaces, yes.

In a battlefield, treat the Archer as the X below. Any number specifies a place where the Archer can hit.
[_][_][_][3][_][_]
[_][_][_][2][_][_]
[_][_][_][1][_][_]
[3][2][1][X][1][2]
[_][_][_][1][_][_]
[_][_][_][2][_][_]
[_][_][_][3][_][_]
[_][_][_][4][_][_]

That should help.

Thank you for the prompt reply and taking the effort to generate the figure. Appreciate it.
