Who in, your opinion, is the best closer? By this, I mean who is the best Unit or Event you use to ensure a win at the end, or turn the tables near the finish.
Personally, GD Thorkur is my favorite. If you are running The Dwarven Guantlet (http://www.plaidhatgames.com/sum_forums/showthread.php?p=609&highlight=dwarven+gauntlet#post609), he can suddenly blast out and wreck havoc.
In the end game, I typically find myself with a load of magic (about 6 -8). This makes Thorkur indestructible, with his Magic Barrier ability. In a recent game, he, as the only unit I controlled other than my Summoner, was able to take out TO's Blagog, 4 Fighters, a Smasher and an Ice Wall. My well placed walls only allowed 1 attack at a time, which was easy to negate. And during all of my turns, I could almost ensure my ability to erase a card off the field, and use it to defend myself. After that, I used Heroic Feat and took down Grognack easily.

I agree that Thorkur is the strongest closer.

I really like Prince Elien and Maelena as closers together. Not quite as tough as Thorkur but still a strong force to compete with.

My favorite when its 2v2 left is Mook and Sneeks. Mook acts as an upgrade in armor and weaponry.

Thorkur is very good.
I also like Gror and Fire Drake because they can be hard to run away from, and Ragnor because he can chase after the Summoner too.

Yea, the Fire Drake is awesome! Blast through the blockers between you and the Summoner. Makes meat shields almost totally useless, lol.

I'm going to have to go with Goose Gossage, if for no other reason than he racked up those HOF stats in an era when he was expected to come in from the bullpen and pitch 2 or 3 innings, not just the 1-2-3 9th. Though i always had a soft spot for John Franco as well.

I actually really like Gror as a closer. At the end game, and least the ones that I've participated in, there are several walls left over cluttering the middle of the field. With Gror's hammer quake as a threat enemy summoners at end game need to avoid that walls that are so often used for protection. This will help expose them to ranged threats and, if nothing else, help begin working them into a corner.

I like the Fire Drake, He can Burn through the walls breaking any protection and run in for the kill.

Gor is pretty solid. He has won both games where he was the closer. Thorkur has never been the closer. He always came out in the beginning or middle against me and I had some champion or sneeks kill him with so many extra wounds that it was worthless to try and save him. I could definitely see him as being awesome but in my experience the dwarves were always so much on their heals using Thorkur's ability was never rationalized.
I have found that Blarf is a pretty sweet closer. He has won me more games (or at least given the last couple wounds on a summoner), than anyone. Getting him out early paints a big target on him but having him late game isn't as devastating cause the opponent usually cannot do anything with magic anyway (unless he has Thorkur, lol. But then again Thorkur falls pretty quickly to a Blarf with 4 attack). Blarf is just such a hard hitter. He comes out very cheap, and you can add cards to him during your turn (saving his attack for last), or simply doing it to deny a magic drain. very nice.
Now Mook has won me a bunch of games but it was because of his aura more than his actual attacking ability.

Some of the Reinforcements are shaping up to be great closers. Rukar, of course, can kill anything with ease, and all of the new 5-costers are good for finishing off Summoners (and everything else). However, the ones I'm most excited about are the Mercenaries.
Malevolence is a no-brainer. Anyone with four attack can kill a Summoner no problem. With Cursed Blade, I can understand that most people are mainly considering her in a Vanguard or Fallen deck, but I think she can do very well as a closer in any deck (Elves, especially) that lack a Unit with exceptional attack power.
Sairook might be my new favorite closer, though. I see him playing like a Mercenary Archangel. He can fly right at the Summoner, land two attacks, and repeat using potentially infinite Intercessions, as long as the opponent lacks the power to take him down. Even better, he can use all the normally-useless Magic that you can get stuck with.

Despite being a birdman, Sairook can't fly.

No love for Krung? Man, there's nothing more depressing than struggling against the Orcs... then the 9-wound fattie hits the table. Oof.
Kalon Lightbringer for the Vanguards.

8 magic is just too costly. for 8 magic i feel he is underpowered. he works wonders against goblins and vanguards because they have no way to deplete your magic, but all 4 other decks have freeze/magic drain. He's just too hard to get out at my table.
On the days he does get out, He's only attacking 1 unit anyways and then his ability is useless. 9 life is a beast, yes, but i just feel he is too hard to get in the needed situations.
