So, I've been teaching Summoner Wars lately to just about anyone who has 40 minutes to spare. My retired dad, my friends who are also in their twenties, my nephew, and other kids his age. Sometimes, they say a lot in very simple words, and kids tend to be pretty honest unless they're trying to avoid trouble.

My 7yo nephew's thoughts on balance:

"The Orcs are the best right? Except for the Elves. They're the best too."

An 8yo's thoughts after his first three games (I think he concisely describes the combat-heavy, back and forth, and yet fun nature of the game):

"That game's mean! It's really fun, but it's mean."

My 5- (almost 6-) year-old really likes this game, to the point where I've heard him adding some of the characters into his normal every-day play. This morning he commented to me that he wished it had miniatures, because he really wanted to see what The Eater actually looked like. :)

(Yes, I had to show my boys a picture of a naked mole rat after I saw the card for The Eater...)

All three of my boys seem to be fascinated with the "creature" champions for the various factions. I've heard them talking about Krung, The Eater, and the Fire Drake as they've been playing. I mostly think they do it to tide themselves over in between actual games. :)
