ZunTzu is a tool that allows you to play boardgames and wargames live with your friends over the Internet

So I looked up the ZunTzu website... looks pretty awesome, if it works. Are you going to upload Summoner Wars there, Primeevil, or was this just for yourself?

well after a conversation with Truth, it was decided that this Zun Tzu game box would not be released to the public.. I dont want to hurt such a great game by effecting sales.

As much as I would LOVE to play this game with others online I have to agree... well played.

I neither condemned or condoned this. Primeevil made the call on his own. If he has completed work on it sharing it among private circles seems like a good alternative.

Well, some time ago, battle for Hill 218 was released for free on the internet. According to Mr. Chad Ellis, this boosted the sales of the game instead of hurting them. Maybe a conversation between the two creators will be really interesting.

Maybe there could be some way to link access to a code on (or in) a box of Summoner Wars? So like, if you buy a starter set, you also get to play it on-line for free? Just a thought.

Then it would turn into that Chaotic game and that would be NOT COOL.

Yeah, that would be really cool, but it is really something you have to have going at launch so you can print the codes with the games.

I think it could be a good download that you could buy as an exclusive on the plaid hat games shop. I'm thinking if it was made they would have to make codes that are emailed (or if it is a disc that is shipped with the shipment), this code would have to be used to create an account. Also if they did this they could add codes to each purchase of normal cards and sets, to be used to unlock digital versions of that pack on the online account.
Or to make money off of it they could have an optional extra like 3$ charge to add a code with the set for the digital cards included.

The code that creates the account would basically be your starter set it would include all of the digital dice etc in the download.

Of course all recently purchased cards beforehand wouldn't have the code, and you would just have to buy another pack; or contact someone about it, and have some kind of thing that proves you have it to get a free code. Or you could always have a seperate code for people that already have the real cards, that could be bought for a smaller price (like 5$).

This of course would take a lot of time and planning and would likely never happen.... it is the kind of thing that can really screw a game up, then again it can add more players.

Anybody else kind of like this idea?

There has been a similar story in the community of Dungeon Twister. The game suffered of a lack of players in most counties tournaments were organized. And since most players were from France or Germany, American and Canadian players couldn't ever hope of finding more than an opponent or two.

One day, a guy from the community launched a similar application on the net. He was one hell of a programmer, and the app worked wonder. At first it was private, but after a while, he offered it to the community. There was a big IF: a player only had access to so many expansions on the app, and they had to be possessed in real. Since he had no way of knowing if everybody had certain boxes or not, he built a kind of faith system where he provided access without asking to some people, but those people had to acknowledge the amounts of boxes owned by their friends.

Other very important decision: he was in contact with the author, and if there ever were an edited videogame, or simply if the author wanted so, the whole app would be closed down by respect to the author.

Overall, this system is not as complicated as the one with numbers included with the boxes, nor does it make people buy anything. It might however restrain to this community in term of numbers, though this community might grow bigger in response to access to the app. This kind of app is also pretty useful for 2 player games.

In case it matters, I had access to the DT app, since I'm from Quebec (Canada), and the player pool is quite scarce.

How about just selling it as a game, and if people want the expansion they buy the expansion.
This will hopefully advertise summoner wars, introduce different kind of market (PC gamers).
and the more dedicated fans will buy both (like greedy me).
The AI would be interesting to program id like to try it when i have time.
