If you don't know what the "Curse of Ret-Talus" is, you should stop reading right now and check out the rules, found here (http://www.plaidhatgames.com/sum_forums/showthread.php?t=708), or the previous games, or better yet, both!

If you already know what you're in for and are still interested in playing, now is the time to sign-up. Registration will be open thru 11:00PM (EST) Friday, August 5th. This round of CoRT games includes two game options: 'Basic' CoRT (mandatory for first-timers), and 'Advnaced CoRT (for those who’re more experienced)'. Identity PMs for all games should go out by Friday (August 5th), and the games will start Monday, August 8th (at the latest). I don't currently know how many caves there will be, but game sizes will be limited to 24 players maximim (including host).




GAME-PLAY TIMETABLES will be set by individual Storytellers immediately before the games begin. Games hosted by me (Jebuh214) will follow the schedule below, and I recommend it as a standard:

Caves:

DAYS will last 2 real world days.
NIGHTS will last 1 real world days.

...but again, individual Storytellers are free to set their own schedules, so long as there are at least 24-hours in each NIGHT and 24-72 hours in each DAY.

And now for the fine print. If all my typing puts you to sleep, just make sure you are aware of the SUMMARY in BOLD BLUE below. If you want to sign-up, you need to do 5 things (I know, it sounds like work, but bear with me...)



1) Decide what TYPE of game you want to play. Your options are: ‘basic’ CoRT OR the ‘advanced’ CoRT game. You may only enter the 'advanced' game if you have previously played in a 'basic', or 'basic+' game hosted here in these forums, no exceptions. If you're not sure you have the time or sanity to keep up with an 'advanced' game, then go with 'basic' CoRT instead. If you're not sure you have the time to play at all, please don't register.
2) Send a PM to me (Jebuh214 (http://www.heroscapers.com/community/private.php?do=newpm&u=132)) noting your desire to join, AND your choice of basic CoRT, or ‘advanced’ CoRT.
3) Unless you want to play a 'random' character, post your preference in this thread and PM me with the character you'd like to 'play'. Characters are first-come, first-served. If someone else has already 'claimed' a character you wanted, list a 'second choice' instead. Players who have not chosen a character by Friday, August 5th (or want a random choice) will be assigned a random identity by me before the games start, and will receive one extra end-game 'roleplay' vote.
4) I may need to move players from their first choice game type to a different game to meet minimum player levels and/or to ensure the games are similarly-sized. If you would be willing to volunteer to be moved from your 'first choice' registration into the other game type if the need arises, state in this thread (or your entry PM) that you are FLEXIBLE. If it becomes necessary, I will select the minimum number of FLEXIBLE volunteers and move them into the other game first; the rest will hopefully be left in their 'preferred' game(s). Though FLEXIBLE players will be moved first, be warned that I may still have to move others around if I run out of FLEXIBLE players. Any players (FLEXIBLE volunteers or otherwise) who ARE moved into a different game will receive one extra post-game vote in the 'most-fun' category for their game as compensation.
5) If you have regular, FACE-TO-FACE contact with another member of this forum who will be playing, PLEASE NOTIFY ME of both your identities so that I can try to put you in different games. You might think you want to play in the same game as one of your 'R-L buddies', but unless you are willing to be extremely careful to make sure that NEITHER of you CHEATS, you're just asking for trouble. If you plan on letting any other player(s) NEAR your computer anytime during this game, just tell me, and I'll put you in different games. If you choose to play in a game with someone else you 'know' in real-life, CONSIDER YOURSELF WARNED. Anyone who flubs up (deliberately or accidentally), gives away their role or learns someone else's, and spoils the game for everyone WILL be considered CHEATING and will be PERMANENTLY BANNED from future participation in CoN games here in the forums. If you can be responsible for your actions and take measures to safeguard the game for everyone's enjoyment, you can play with whomever you wish, but you WILL be held accountable if you screw up. If you don't think you can handle it, it's much safer to just let me know so I can split you up. ...'Nuff said.
NOTE: Another registration option is UBER-FLEXIBLE. Anyone registering as "UBER-FLEXIBLE" is expressing no game preference whatsoever, and will be placed after registration closes into whichever game needs them the most. Such players will automatically get the one extra 'bonus' post-game vote in the "Most Fun" category, no matter which game they are eventually given. Furthermore, players registering as RANDOM UBER-FLEXIBLE will similarly get one extra post-game vote in BOTH the "Most Fun" and "Best RolePlayer" categories.

...then note if you are FLEXIBLE (in case I need to move folks around)
...then tell me what other players (if any) I need to keep OUT of your game due to privacy issues.

Final Note: SIDEBOARDING:
As if registration wasn't complicated enough, there's also the SIDEBOARDING issue. First-time players can ignore this section, and veterans should know all about the purpose and function, so I'll not rehash it here. If you are an experienced player (minimum of 3 games played, one of which must be an advanced), you may volunteer as a SIDEBOARD potential to replace any players that drop out due to inactivity. Note this in your registration PM to me and in this thread, stating clearly if you are EAGER to play if the opportunity arises, or if you are just WILLING to play, but only if absolutely needed. Please, DO NOT volunteer as a sideboard candidate unless you are absolutely certain that you can handle playing in both games simultaneously, if needed.

If you are in the host queue (below) and want to be a Storyteller for the basic or Advanced game, post here or PM me to let me know. First choice will be given to willing hosts starting at the top of this list and moving down. If you want to play instead, or won't be in this round at all, also let me know, so I can skip your name and seek the next willing victim, *cough* I mean volunteer. You must have played in at least 2 previous CoRT games (of any type) before you may sign-up to be a Storyteller...

This was originally written for a Keep, and a basic game, so I just plugged in Advanced anywhere where it mentioned the Keep. I just forgot that one. I fixed it now though, and thanks for catching that error.;)

I played in an advanced game my first time. Why not him? He could read through the roles of an advanced game and such, and he'd be okay.

Yes but there were a lot of silly mistakes made in that first game with roles and things. That said the importance of the secrecy of roles should be as obvious and important in a Basic game as in an Advanced. Simply its harder to follow.

Those who enter a game thinking its going to be easy are likely to be zombie-bait. If they're lucky they'll be a zombie themself and someone will lead them through the game. If the warriors are unlucky they'll be a Visionary or other useful role and just throw it away.

Having a bad player as a Visionary is a curse. When it happens you're screwed. That said - even if they're strong theres not always a lot you can do.

Except our problem is that we don't have a big enough base. If we had enough for two rounds it would be fine, but if someone new joins every time we would have to stick to Basic games until...a long time.

Yeah, I've played on HSers since before the games started here. So do I still have to do a Basic first, or am I allowed to do an Advanced/Basic+ since I've done basics before on HSers?

Technically I think you would have to play Basic, but I dunno how we're gonna decide if people have to play Basic or not. I suppose we could do another B+. Its better than Basic at least.

Shockma, you're fine for playing the advanced game. As for Deceit, if we get enough for a Basic, then that's what you'll be assigned to. Though if we only get enough for one game, there are two things that could happen. Change the advanced game to a Basic/Basic+, or just let you play in the advanced. I will PM some of the higher ups within CoRT (KCU, Ranior, Dysole, and Killer Lawnmower [I just like saying higher ups, because it makes us sound really really cool :p]) and see what they say as to which of those options would be better.

Most of the 'higher ups' that I was refering to played over on HS'ers, we've also been the ones who have sorta of been make shift admins, or something close to it, and have also colaborated on things before. I meant no offense to you by saying that. Its just who I look to to help with things.

I prefer random - more of a RolePlaying challenge. That said, with a Jungle Elf and a Phoenix Elf as my previous two characters I've not really had much chance to do anything. Ive had Kalon as well who was an interesting one previously, but most fun was probably Fire Drake as I didnt speak the whole game. That was quite fun.

I had a good setup for Brother Myron but it didn't work out. Sir Walter wasn't bad. But I think this next one for this game is gonna be good too, maybe enough to rival Hydrake.

It depends on what kind of annoying. I think the thing I find most annoying is when people don't proof-read their posts. I find myself annoyed when there aren't caps or punctuation and stuff like that.

I make spelling errors all the time I think, (I vageuely remember committing the cardinal sin of mentioning someone else's thus leaving myself open to crucifiction in another thread a month or two ago) but it doesn't bother me with anyone else's so long as its readable. Marroking suffers from this but its USUALLY readable ;) Only problematic when riddles are being written!

The Vargath summoner is Sunderved. (Who I wouldn't mind doing again, I liked my idea but didn't pull it off). The Sand Goblins summoner is Krusk I think.

I don't see that as a problem. If you play the game by the actual rules, you wind up with different characters in a different dungeon every time. I don't see why Dorgan can't get one stone, then, in another dungeon half-way across Itharia, Stabbins get one, and in a third dungeon that may have happened after the other two, Paelleal get one. Seems a bit unreasonable to have too many of the Dungeon Run characters get Stones, but as long as we exhaust all the pre-existing Summoners first, I think we'll be fine.

No, every single bio or flavor text refers to the one dungeon, Kravlas I think. The idea of different dungeons is like the summoner wars idea of summoners and champions dying in battle but coming back for later games. It doesn't really happen that way in the story.

This round of CoRT games includes two game options: 'Basic' CoRT (mandatory for first-timers), and 'Advnaced CoRT (for those who’re more experienced)'. Identity PMs for all games should go out by Friday (August 5th), and the games will start Monday, August 8th (at the latest). I don't currently know how many caves there will be, but game sizes will be limited to 24 players maximim (including host).Bolded for emphasis.

That actually was my error, it was supposed to say August 5th, the same date that ID PM's will be sent out, though the latest that ID pms will be sent out would be the 6th. So that's my bad guys, it should be the 5th that it ends, I changed it in the first post to clear things up also.
