Looking anxiously ahead to the release of Goblins and Dwarves, I had a question about Mook and Gror's area of effect powers.

Both have powers that indicate an effect on cards "within X spaces." I wanted to clarify... I assume that this means any card within that number of spaces, whether those are diagonally counted, if there are any blockers in between, etc.

The only reason for slight confusion is that everywhere else things are counted in orthogonal lines, but for area of effects, diagonals seem to make sense as well.

Is this correct?

No, in the terminology clarifications section of the rulebook it explains that when counting spaces for these types of powers you don't count diagonally, you count the spaces like you would count out movement, so area of effect powers have a sort of diamond shaped area of effect.

Once you wrap your head around this it's really pretty easy, but during the game you might find yourself studying the board to make sure of the area of effect the first few times you play.

Also, can Mook's bonus extend through walls and other guys? I assume that it can, since it doesn't say clear line spaces, just spaces.

Yes it can.
