Dead of Winter Production Update

Keeping Crossroads fans completely up-to-date

We have a bunch of preorders for Dead of Winter. That means there are a bunch of you out there eagerly awaiting this game. As a result we've been hounding our production partners to keep things moving quickly and to keep us updated so that we can keep you updated.

I promise every time I'm given information that is claimed as solid information and not a guess I pass it on to you here. The fact is there are a number of companies and individuals involved in the final production of a board game and I've just gotten another piece of bad news coming from the plastics production company. Something has gone wrong with the die mold that produces the custom 20 sided die that comes with the game. This has pushed the completion date on the product back to June 10th, as time was lost fixing this problem.

It takes approximately 40 days to get here to us after completion. This means Dead of Winter won't be arriving until the dead of summer... July. I hate this but am powerless to do anything but pass this info on to you.  As soon as the games arrive we will be shipping them to preorderers first and will ship them in the order the pre-orders were received.

I know this puts us way behind our original delivery prediction. We will continue to work to get the game to you as soon as possible. As always refunds are available on request if you'd like to cancel your order. Just drop us an email. If you've had, or will have, a change of address we can take care of that for you too. Again just drop us an email.

Our biggest delays on this project were two fold:

1. Right before going to print we decided that the graphic design on the project wasn't everything we wanted it to be. We asked our graphic designer Dave Richards to help ua with that. In our opinion he's a master. However he was not a full time freelancer and instead was committed to a full time day job. So despite our aggressive efforts to turn this around quickly it took some time, but the results, as you can see in the previews, are a fantastic looking game. In an effort to improve turnaround time and maintain a focus on high quality visuals we have convinced Dave to take a full time position with Plaid Hat Games.

2. The plastics on this project have held us up. In the future we will be doing everything we can to finalize any plastics on a project as a first priority and will send those into production ahead of everything else in an effort to reduce thier potential to delay projects.

We have a lot of exciting projects on the horizon at Plaid Hat Games. Our team keeps growing and we keep working to refine our ability to deliver fun. I'm frustrated to have these feelings of irritation I'm sure many of you are feeling, waiting months longer than expected to receive a game you already paid for, associated with Plaid Hat Games. I appreciate any understanding you can lend us on this. I promise I do not take this lightly and will continue to do what I can to urge things along and keep you updated.

I'm at the hospital right now by the bedside of a sleeping loved one typing this on my phone so please excuse any typos.

Update: On the plus side, the European $10/$15 shipping deal, which was ending today, can go on for a couple more weeks for those who haven't had a chance to order in the EU.
